Description:

I would love to plant seeds from real, non-hybrid plants in my garden, but they are soooo expensive. I thought other people who have gardens might like to do some swapping.

Seeds do not have to be labeled as organic, but they do have to be non-modified seeds. They can come from plants or vegetables that you have planted and harvested yourself, so having the seed packet is also not important. If you use a standard envelope instead of a seed packet, please make sure the name of the item is on the envelope and the variety if you know it (EX: Tomato, Big Boy). Include at least 8 seeds per packet. Please send two different packets. We will have two partners each (total of four packets to send).

Seeds can be vegetables, flowers, herbs, bushes, etc. Please put in the comments what types of seeds you prefer. When sending, please use these comments as a guideline. Please don't get too specific because we want the sender to be able to use something he/she may already have on hand (I never plant 30 tomato bushes, even if I have 30 seeds).

For example, you could state: I prefer vegetables for my garden and love any type of greens, except for mustard greens. I would also accept flower seeds I could put in a pot inside.

Any swapper with at least a 4.9 rating may join, as well as newbies with a well filled out profile. I reserve the right to ban anyone I feel will not follow through. I will angel if there are any flakers, just message me after you rate.

USA only for postage convenience. I hope to do this swap again as the weather changes.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I'd like seeds for small, red beans if anyone has them - lettuce, spinach, herbs- yellow tomatoes - cabbage, brocolli, just about anything but NOT brussel sprouts !!

We just got a house this year, so I need vegetables, flowers, herbs, and anything else one could imagine. I am not picky, so I am open to all types of seeds. If I decide not to use them, I will give them to my mother, who I believe is the real Mother Nature, but she's never admitted it.

I just opened an international version of this swap as well. Everything else is the same.

I'd prefer fruits/veggies, but anything really cool or unusual would also be welcome! I'm looking for a good head type lettuce, unusually colored beets, but really just anything! I love trying new varieties! I'm zone 5, and mostly shady (but with plans to expand to the sunny back field)

I had to delete the international swap based on the following received message, which I'll post anonymously. I was sad to do so, but the message makes sense:

"While your seed swap looks great, I do have some concerns about it.

There may be legal issues about sending seeds internationally. A lot of countries have lists of 'banned' seeds -- and that would probably apply particularly to home-grown/home-harvested seeds.

There are also issues around non-native species which become invasive in a new climate -- the UK, for example, has real problems with Japanese knotweed, which was imported as a garden plant but then spread into wild and natural areas, and which tends to push out local species.

Looking at the UK non-native species alert webpage, http://www.nonnativespecies.org/, I see a number of other plants which are being problematical here although they are fine in their own locations.

I don't mean to be a kill-joy -- but none of us want to create ecological disasters!"

I would love to receive flower seeds, especially anything unusual or good for cutting for bouquets. I would also love anything that you really love. And keep in mind, it's HOT in Florida 90% of the time.

I am in zone 10, so anything needing particularly cold temperatures will not be too happy here. But I am just grateful for whatever you would like to send.

I would like any type of seeds, but especially anything that bees love (I have 2 hives), herbs, sunflowers, any flowers, vegetables, I plant a giant garden and love all kinds of seeds.

I am in north Texas, Zone 7B and am open to anything but sunflower seeds (I have enough of these from previous swaps). I've tried turnips but we don't like them so no reason to plant them.

California here! Anything goes for me, but I would love edible herbs I can use for cooking or things I can grow inside my low light apartment. Thank you and cheers!

So my seeds have been sent! For the ladies getting my seeds, I sent 2 packages of favorites and one extra package of my nemesis, the one that always gives me troubles. Perhaps you will have better luck. Can't wait to see what comes in the mail!
