Description:

This is going to be a really fun but only for serious and dedicated swappers! Please don't join if you don't think you can last at least the 6 rounds it takes to get yours back!

Select Your Gnome! must be no bigger then 6 inches so we aren't costing some people a ton on shipping. write your name and address on the bottom of the gnome so we know his home!

now, get a box for your friend, make sure (s)he is comfortable in there! (we don't want him/her to break!)

next, select a small photo album (at least 24 pages) include this in the box.

send to your partner!!

now, partners: Take the gnome to 4 places around you and take photos of the gnome. select and print out (please go use a photo machine and not your home printer so the stay nice) 4 photos and include them into the album with a note about where the picture was taken!

EDIT, PLEASE READ!! INSTEAD OF DOING 6 SEPERATE, WE WILL JUST DO THE FOLLOWING: We will treat this like a circle pass. each gnome you get, you will do your part and send it on the the same partner each time. this way we don't risk getting repeat partners. once you get the 6th gnome, he should be your last and ready to send home when you'r done. please only keep each gnome for a max of a week and a half! that way we don't get a gnome traffic jam at one person! :D if when the partners are assigned, two people get eachother, please let me know asap so we can sort it out, but hopefully we each get someone diffrent then the person who has us! :D the first gnome stilll needs to be sent out by the 9th to get this rolling.

your gnome will be going on 6 adventures and then come home!

I -love- this idea!!! I'll have to see if I can budget it in. :-)

greenqueen86 03/20/2014 #

Yay! I hope you can! My mom and I are really excited to try this!

This is a great idea! It would be fun to do it with a paper gnome to save on costs. Do you think you might do a similar swap in that way and if not would you mind if I set one up?

greenqueen86 03/20/2014 #

@snout I could do that :-) I'll set it up tonight when my daughter goes to bed. Just keep in mind this is intended to be a small gnome at the biggest, 6 inches :-)

Ooooh I'll definitely join in the paper one. I can make one heck of a cute paper gnome that stands up and has different outfits. Think paper doll style but a gnome! :-)

A 6" gnome can weigh a small ton... Specially the outdoor ones. If this was limited to just lightweight indoor decorative gnomes I wouldn't hesitate on signing up. I'm just concerned about getting a 6" hunk of cement in the shape of a gnome and what it would cost to send... Due to the shape, most 6" gnomes would not fit in a small flat rate box, so you're looking at least a medium flat rate box for around $12 if I'm remembering correctly...

The seasonal garden section of Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or AC Moore's should have smallish gnomes for gnome gardens that should package and ship fairly cheap.

i think it's dollar general that has small like ceramic gnomes for like potted plants :) but i will also set up a paper one asap!! :)

koalascout 03/29/2014 #

ok, just so i understand.

send gnome to assigned partner, receive gnome keep for approx. two weeks and send to next person. how will we determine who gets the gnome after the first time.

greenqueen86 03/29/2014 #

@koalascout It should have a circle effect, you will keep sending to the same partner since you should continue to get different gnomes from your sender. Imagine we're all sitting in a circle and passing them from left to right and we continue until the gnome hits its 6th rotation and then It goes home. You should know because mainly because you'll be putting the last 4 of 24 photos in their album. Does that make sense?

pkmccann 03/30/2014 #

I've decided this will initiate a new "tradition" in our family. I'm going to continue to take my gnome on trips with us! I'll take pictures of him in the places we visit, and continue to add to his photo album! I LOVE this idea! LOL!!

koalascout 03/30/2014 #

cool

fireyvalkyrie 04/ 2/2014 #

King Julian my roaming gnome is going in the mail today

pkmccann 04/12/2014 #

I think it's so cool that each gnome will get to "visit" each swap participant before going home to his original owner! This is a really cool swap idea.

Please, folks... remember to pack each visiting gnome carefully (best to put him back into the box he came in) to send him on to the next visit! I've already received one broken and he had to be replaced. :(
