Swap-bot is still mostly too overwhelming for me, my brain feels all fuzzy. I only partake in very few swaps atm so I can be sure I don't get panicky.

So many swaps got lost since I moved, so many groups have declined in the last months... I don't have it in me atm to swap as I used to. I'll stay active and do some things but I really am tired.

To further add to my swap-misery (ugh, all the self-pity here... :p ) - our post partner is a newspaper shop. And the owner just died -.- So now I have to deal with a new post Office further away and I have no idea what happened to my mail going out from the (now closed because dead owner) post Office at the time. They SAY it should've gone out like normal but no one received anything aoy. -.-

Merry Meet! Hi, my name is Daniela, I am 30 years old and live in Vienna with my husband.

I am collecting pins, Teddy bears (I LOVE PADDINGTON) and books. I am a native German Speaker but I am also fluent in English and do speak a little French. At the Moment I try to learn Spanish but the French keeps getting in the way -.-

I have a very serious book addiction. I cannot pass a book shop. No exaggeration! When I'm on my own and walking past one, I always go in.

My husband and I are avid travellers and I love to see new countries, places, discover new tastes and get to know new people!

I'm in the Chemo Angels programme as an angel and my Buddy loves Disney, Baseball (especially the Anaheim Angels and San Francisco Giants), tulips, dalmatians and HP/LotR If anyone has such postcards, I'd love to swap for them :)

My Username

In Austria we have a saying that goes "Eulen nach Athen tragen", to carry owls to Athens. It means to do something very pointless :) In England you'd say "Carry coals to Newcastle..."

It has to be said - I feel if I don't put this on my Profile I'm missing something vital :p I will send everything out on time. I do love swap-bot very much and wouldn't risk it. So if you don't receive something from me in time, then please let me know! I'm more than happy to resend. Normally I do inquire after my swaps after a reasonable amount of time^^

I have a mailbox right outside my house. When I am done with a swap I put it in right away. On weekends the box isn't emptied but on weekdays every day in the afternoon. I mark "Sent" as soon as I put things in the mailbox, so when I put them in on the weekend, the postage stamp says Monday. Just so there are no confusions :)

From time to time I'll be going away for one or two weeks. Of course I will not participate in any swaps where the sending deadline falls into these times. I have online access and will log on and everything BUT! As I am not home and my husband is strictly ordered not to touch my mail, it may be that the rating will be a bit late. So if you haven't received a rating after a considerable timespan, pls message me about it! Normally I'll rate as soon as I open the swap :) I'll post it here when I'm going to be away so if you're waiting for a rating from me, just have a look here!

what I pledged

Jane Austen, everything that takes place in the UK, crimes, novels, chick-lits, classic English literature (except Dickens... we don't seem to get along too well), Barbara Wood, Arthur Conan Doyle, Ben Aaronovitch, Andreas Altmann, Jodi Picoult, etc... I really like stories about animals, like Bob the Street Cat e.g. I lovelovelove haunted novels, short stories, true encounters, everything paranormal!

Jenny Colgan, Diana Gabaldon and Sophie Kinsella are also amongst my favourite authors.

I am still fond of the books I read as a child and I am still reading children's books that are new to me. For example the Laura Ingalls Wilder - Books and loved them!

I also read Fantasy but not as much as other genres. I don't like Sci-Fi too much but some of it is pretty good.

One of my favourite book series is the one from Kerry Greenwood about Corinna Chapman the baker/detective :)

I have about a 1000 other books I have no time to mention and I am keeping a book list to keep track of them.

Concerning comics, I really like some mangas, especially CLAMP, like Wish oder Magic Knight Rayearth. I also love Zetsuai/Bronze. I am the prowd owner of every Asterix comic there is^^

My favourite comic is American, it's called Elfquest by Wendy and Richard Pini. It's a really wonderful world they've created!

I also have a very embarrassing guilty pleasure: I love to read everything about the British Royals -.- There is a magazine that's called Royal Life... I always buy it when I'm in Britain but that is not more than once or twice a year. So if you stumble across it... ;)

My favourite band is Ska-P, a really good Ska band from Spain.

My favourite singer and musician is Canadian singer Loreena McKennitt. Her songs are just wonderful!

Also on my playlist are Pink Floyd, Queen, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Blackmore's Night, Schandmaul, HIM, System of a Down, Tenacious D, Tarja Turunen, EAV, David Bowie, Die Ärzte, Hazey Jane II, Nick Drake, Flogging Molly, Marilyn Manson (the early years), Sissel, Fanta 4, Evanescence and many more.

I listen to classic music sometimes, my favourite is Bach for Cembalo.

To Folk Music from Scotland and Ireland I could listen - and dance! - all day/night Long.

I like some Musicals, like Elisabeth, Evita, Mamma Mia, Phantom of the Opera, Hair, My Fair Lady, Dance of the vampires etc. But sometimes I like the movies more than seeing it on stage :) I also like opera, not everything though. Mostly the Italian ones, like La Traviata, Nabucco etc.

At the moment my favourite movie is North and South (BBC Adaptation with Richard Armitage and Daniela Danby-Ashe) What I could watch a thousand times... The Secret Garden (the one with Maggie Smith) and Legends of the Fall. swoon

I really don't like Horror/Slasher/Splatter movies... or the likes of Terminator with only pang and boom and that :) As a child I loved western movies, now I'm not so sure. I do like The Quick and The Dead, because it was so hilariously bad. And, Russell Crowe.

I absolutely love Jane Austen adaptations, especially the BBC ones.

Another all-time-favourite is Dogma. It's just so hilarious. :)

I love every movie with Meryl Streep, she is so fantastic! Also I like most of the Tim Burton ones.

I really love the movie The Crow - but ONLY the one with Brandon Lee!! The others are... not for me :)

I also like Disney and other animated movies (favourite: The last Unicorn)

Bollywood!! :D Also I like some anime movies.

Recently seen: - Awakenings (sad but hopeful) - Frida (stunning - Salma Hayek is the most beautiful woman even with a monobrow :)) - Remember me (meh) - Jerry Maguire (holy moly, Tom Cruise didn't look as psycho as he does nowadays :)) - American Beauty (laughed till I cried :)) - The Great Gatsby (worst soundtrack ever) - In Bruges (funniest I've seen in a long time :)) - Oh Brother where art thou? (very good!) - The Cider House Rules (heavy...)

I'm a big Dr. Who fan since a couple of months^^

I also like House, M.D.; Scrubs, SATC, BrBa, and older ones like Little House on the Prairie or Dallas. Lovelovelove the Simpsons!

I watch a lot of documentaries on Netflix and online streams. I am interested in pretty much every topic one can make a documentary about.

But my absolute favourite series was Princess Fantaghiro. So magical and fantastic!

As a girl I really liked animes like Hikari, Sailor Moon, Rock'n'Roll Kids, Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs etc. I still like it but couldn't watch it like back then because of the shrill voices and all the screaming, especially with the magical girl ones.

I now have a very special relationship to Breaking Bad... I hatelove that series!! I don't like any of the characters one way or another but I really couldn't stop watching it. So cool! So stupid! :p Now I have to watch Better call Saul sigh yay

We have seen the existing seasons of Bates Motel, love it! Now we're trying Lost - I know I'm gonna hate it :) But I'm in love with Sawyer - pure looks of course^^ Update: Lost is GREAT. I hate it.

I used to draw manga-style pictures when I was younger and still love it but moved on to water-colour in the last years.

I am very fond of crocheting although I am reaaally bad at it.

I also try knitting from time to time but everytime I start to knit a scarf, it turns out to be an oven cloth in the end -.-

I like to craft nice cards for special occasions, e.g. for babyshowers or Christmas. I like doing ATCs now and then, atm I'm more into handmade PCs. I am usually hand-drawing my ATCs.

Inchies, twinchies, mini-zines, Scherenschnitte - everything paper-y is great fun!

I am a fantastic baker (if I may be so bold^^) and love creating and trying out recipes.

CHRISTMAS I love everything christmassy - but mostly beautiful cards, decorations, etc. No matter if religious or not, it's part of our culture in Austria. Wish me Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays - it's up to you :)

POSTCARDS

I love all kinds of PCs, touristy or non-touristy, zazzle (good Quality), handmade...

I prefer touristy and handmade Cards send naked but I also like them in an envelope if the swap calls for it!

I'm really not that picky about PCs^^ Just one humble request - please don't send me any more unwritten Beatrix Potter PCs, I already have tons and most of them. I'd love them stamped and written though :)

• anything to do with racism or discrimination
• Slasher-horror kind of movies/books with too much gory details etc. - I'm more for the subtle kind of horror that slowly creeps on you... ;) How can I explain this.... I don't like movies where one after the other is slaughtered with the blood squirting miles and miles etc. I don't like Jack Ketchum. His style is not good horror, he just likes to wallow in brutality and blood IMO
• Spiders and other crawly insects, most flying ones are ok though :)
• Cruelty against animals/no fur!!!!!
• Religious stuff that is neither art nor meant ironic - I'd love to learn about your faith but please don't missionaire or bash other religions.

I am allergic to cats and dogs (unfortunately) and pretty much everything that has pollens. -.- But please don't worry about animal hair getting on the swaps - I'm sneezing all day long anyway, so I wouldn't notice - unless you send an actual cat. see here what happens if you do ;)

I am also allergic to rose-scented bath-stuff like shower gel e.g. At least I think I am. Everytime I smear something rose-y on my skin it itches and I get a rash -.-
