I'm Karen, 56, from upstate New York in the US.

I love traveling, art, reading, writing, swimming, nature, my cats (and all animals), history, baseball, the ocean, sleeping, laughing, films, good TV series, walking, water....

Favorite Music Without question, the Beatles! Favorite Beatle has always been John but I love them all. And I like mostly all rock and roll - 60s, 70s, 80s. Also jazz, blues, bluegrass, folk. Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. Gregorian Chant and ancient music. Grateful Dead, Freddie Mercury and Queen, Tom Petty, Elton John. Favorite Books I like novels, and some of my favorite authors are John Irving, John Updike, Margaret Atwood, Shakespeare, James Joyce, Annie Dillard, Anne Tyler, Joan Didion. I love fiction that I can get lost in. Nonfiction is cool too.

Favorite Movies West Side Story, The Crying Game, Jaws, The Godfather, The Butcher Boy, Casablanca, Moonstruck, The Piano, Harold and Maude, Agnes of God, In the Name of the Father. So many more. Love movies with Irish actors and Irish directors. Walking encyclopedia on West Side Story. All movies with awesome acting, writing, and photography. I crave a beautiful movie scene that will dazzle me. I want less telling and more showing.

Favorite Television The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones!, Better Call Saul, Downton Abbey. Lots of lesser known things too. I also like funny stuff like Modern Family, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and the New Adventures of Old Christine. Love Brit series and am currently hooked on Britbox.

Favorite Crafts: I've just recently become interested in art. I always thought I had no talent, but now I'm trying things in every area. I love collage, mixed media and art journaling. I adore bright colors and paper. SUN MOON AND STARS motifs are brilliant. I love paper and stencils. Urban scenes, buildings, fences, playgrounds, tenements, fire escapes (see West Side Story, above :))
I love to write stories and poems and lists. I sing and play piano.

Other - There are so many things I'm interested in now that I wasn't when I was in school. History and science especially. I am emotional and my emotions can change suddenly. I am fascinated by every part of nature.

Swaps - I guess I'm supposed to tell people what I'd like, if they were assigned to send me stuff :) I love anything artistic, paper, pens, ephemera, envelopes, stencils, collage stuff, letter-writing materials. Anything whatsoever with sun, moon, stars, planets, clouds, rain, comets, etc. I love books and literature and anything book related...bookmarks, poetry, anything really which involves the written word. I love anything about Ireland or Italy, traveling, oceans, Shakespeare, anything music related (ie items with notes or staffs or clefs, etc), cats, films, acting, history, the Marx Brothers, the Beatles, West Side Story, eagles, architecture, nature, water of any kind - rivers, lakes, streams, creeks, oceans, swimming pools, fountains, rain, puddles...you get the idea :) I love anything about any country in the world because I love to learn about new places and people...

And I guess I need to say what I don't like? I don't like Trump and that's an understatement. I tend to not like religious things, although I love meditation, monasteries, churches, etc - I just don't want anyone to preach to me. For food, I don't like mustard or olives. I don't like country music or opera. Sorry, but I really don't like Disney. I don't like comic books, driving in the snow, negative people, racism, intolerance, bigotry, close-mindedness.
And I don't even like typing this because it makes me feel very negative! Hahaha - I really do like most things...
