Hullo,
My name's James and I live in north-east England. I grew up in Yorkshire and lived in London for a long time, but not wanting to spend most of my income on rent brought me back to less exciting pastures haha!
As I write this I'm about to start a new job as a civil servant, so hopefully I'll survive long enough to send some post.
Also I'll preface this by saying I'm new to this site and have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
I absolutely love sending letters, cards, and other small mail paraphernalia and nonsense. I collect stamps so that got me into post and postal swapping and now I'm totally hooked, as well as still being a philatelic obsessive. I do postcrossing and a LOT through reddit (200+ RAoC flair), so am pretty experienced sending postcards & notecards. I write letters to my friends & family members, but then they text me back, so perhaps I'll have more luck here!
I'll admit though I'm not great at the tea swapping that seems to be very popular. Portioning out my loose leaf or the bags I buy in bulk with a note saying what tea it is seems like a lot of a faff! In the past people have sent me individually packed tea bags, and tbh I have no idea where they're getting them from! I've only ever seen them in hotels, aeroplanes, trains etc. I couldn't switch to them anyway, what a waste throwing out 10 odd paper packets a day! Anyway, I digress...
Sci Fi: I'm a massive fan of Science Fiction TV programmes. I love Doctor Who, Star Trek, Red Dwarf etc. Ditto books, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is my favourite book ever.
Birds: I'm a big fan of birds and birdwatching. My favourites are Corvids and Barn Owls.
Cricket: The greatest game on earth. Second most popular only to Association Football, but nobody's perfect, right?
Motor Racing: Ernest Hemingway once said that “there are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.” Motor Racing stands out as the best, as it is neither cruel and barbaric, nor held in the arse end of nowhere so you can't see what's happening.
Florals: How can you not? Flowers are pretty. Patterns are pretty. Flower patterns therefore are the best.
Wildlife, Landscapes, Plants, Trees, & Nature
Stamps & Philately
Flags: Something about the stark but colourful nature of flags and the fact that they're all about symbology is appealing to me. Flags are cool.
Maps: I have two whole degrees in Geography, so I couldn't not really!

Loose Glitter/Confetti: Bad for the environment, gets everywhere, will probably end up getting eaten by one of me pets and make them ill.
Religion: I keep mine to myself, keeps yours to yourself too, eh?
Hot Pink: Idk, just not a colour I like at all. I love baby pink though.
idk I think that's it, I'm not too much of a curmudgeon I don't think haha
