I am a mid-west girl, happily married to my childhood sweetheart. We have 2 girls and 2 very spoiled Jack Russell terriers. I have always been a creative being. Loved to spend hours drawing & creating as a child. I spent my childhood in the northern woods of Wisconsin doodling while I sat in trees, hiking, riding horses & riding motorcycles. Other than art journaling, mail art, swaps, mixed media and zines, I enjoy the following: painting, sketching, gardening, practice/learning more about photography, motorcycle rides, walking outdoors & collecting "treasures", target shooting and DIY projects with my husband (we have done tons of remodeling to our house) going to antique & second-hand stores to find "goodies". SWAPS If I find myself running behind, I ALWAYS message my partner. I will have to limit myself as to how much & what types of swaps I will be able to participate in due to a demanding (& sometimes unpredictable work schedule) I always strive for craftsmanship & artistry and NEVER want to slap something together just to get it in the mail! But PLEASE, message me with any problems before rating lower. ...I am willing to go the extra mile to make it up!
My music tastes are quite varied. A sampling may include: Maroon 5 & Daughtry, Imagine Dragons, Josh Groban, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi (and alot of the "old school" rock) I also like Jason Mraz, Adele & have an embarrassing guilty pleasure for some pop music that will remain unnamed in this format.....;-)
I like mixed media, military history & horror/suspense mystery. I love reading about other cultures and their history as well. I love journal art & sketching books (ââ¢Â¡Danny Gregory & the cheeky Mary Ann Moss!) Poetry is something I enjoy as well. A few that I am especially fond of are Henry David Thoreau, Emerson, E. Dickinson.
I don't get alot of time to watch TV. When I do, I like the following: The Strain, Walking Dead, The Haunted, almost anything on I.D. channel, History or Millitary Channel. I watch a few reality shows such as DIY'S and Fast n' Loud.
It's hard to pick favorites.....generally, I like movies that follow my TV tastes. I like military & scary movies (horror & suspense) (not mindless, gory, "teenage" movies that lack a good plot & suspense.)I'm into most action movies. I also love movies that have terrific theatrical costumes & settings. I like pretty much anything that Tim Burton & Johnny Depp have collaborated on.
I love art journaling & mixed media, mail art, zines. I have a large stash of paper (I'd love to share!) and I enjoy making handpainted papers & using recycled & vintage items. I love collecting some of the following: old postage, vintage or foreign text (book pages, newspaper, tickets, maps....no glossy papers, please) old encyclopedias & maps, vintage postcards, rusty metal bits, old buttons & rhinestone costume jewery, bits of vintage fabric/trimmings, glass beads, any small pieces of interesting fodder that can be incorporated into my mixed media journals, hand carved stamps, "found text" (collected from mags/books), fortunes, band stickers, old flyers from outdoor kiosks (i.e. indie/rock band flyers)and hand painted paper & fabrics. I also love contemporary doodling, cityscapes & artistic b&w photography featuring old buildings, trees etc. I love to collect photos or magazine photos that I can alter and incorporate into my many art journals.
My eclectic tastes in style include: vintage,(l Lââ¢Â¡ve vintage paper of practically any sort!) sketches, doodles, collage, Zentangles and lots of paint splatters & ink. I dig quirky and imaginative design & favor mixes of pattern, color, texture and style. I like to work with acrylics, watercolor and mix fabric, paper & found objects. (& I have an inordinate amount of washi tape!) I enjoy incorporating recycled items (i.e. office supplies, envelopes, cardboard etc.) into my art. I love to create with no rules!
"Art" without thought or effort (if there isn't any thought or effort...there isnt any art!) Stickers & commercial scrapbook papers Commercial/store bought PC's Cigarette smoke Disney/cutsie type stuff In general, any "cartoon character" stuff (I do like doodled characters...just not cutsie) Food, beverage items
