Description:

On August 15th I will have my 2nd knee replacement. The first was in April. I tried to have a swap that would arrive after I got home from the hospital but the way i set it up most of the atcs arrived early.
This time i am going to try to make it so that everyone will send their atcs closer to the end send date. I want to have happy mail when i really need the mood boost. SO if this doesn't make sense the way i describe the swap help me clarify it. This will be a mega swap--20 made (same or different) / one atc to 20 people. The card should have either, a flower, a bird or a butterfly or combo of those three on it. Any medium.. 2 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch, nicely made, they are called ARTIST trading cards. You will have a longer than usual time to prepare for this swap... so vacations and summer stuff should be able to be worked around so that more people can join. Also from the sign up to the send time will be short. Make your cards ahead and maybe even get the envelopes ready with your return and any notes so that when partners are assigned you can just put on the addresses and mail.
Then depending on where the cards come from... there will be fun happy mail for a week or two after. Please help me make this a true Mega swap. I am making this swap USA only but another one for international ... join both if you want! I just know some people don't want to deal with the extra postage especially on a speed mail thing...

Yikes... I wanted to join this but then I noticed the swap date... didn't know this swap was going on. I'd croak if I tried to make 20 ATC's now. lol

Make your swaps in groups... 3 here... 5 there.... make them all the same? edition of 20....besides... so far 20 in the swap seems to be pushing it. I havent started mine yet and i am doing 2 of these swaps! So 40...yet i am not nervous. I know I can make beautiful cards if i just set down a few times. please join.

I want to join but the send by date is way too close. Hopefully you will do another but have a little more time to send. Good luck!

I would join as well if I had more time to make them.

THREE days between sign up & mail out? That's asking a lot...and the number of partners is way toooooo many especailly in the summer and this economy....that's nearly $9 in postage alone plus time & materials.

I would really enjoy this swap except 20 partners is way too much for me. Especially since I am so involved in other swaps. Possibly you can host this swap again with just one or two partners. Thanks - Ransom

I am really sorry that there are some people on SB that feel the need to be so negative about a swap they choose not to participate in. This swap has been listed since the 5th of July. If one reads the listing it explains that the ATCs should be made ahead of time and that is why about 6 weeks was given. Also.. I have found that when doing mega swaps or mini megas, that i use less time and have less wasted materials than if i do individual cards. And postage, hmm I believe it would be the same if you mailed them all at once or over a period of time. Yes this swap means mailing 20 atcs. Most often one in a note card can be mailed for the price of a single stamp... the books of stamps are sold in sets of 20... so that is not a big surprise.

For those of you have signed up or are thinking of signing up, THIS will be a fun swap! If you have not participated in a big swap before let this be your first. Grab a beautiful printed 12x 12, a piece or two of 12x12 solid card stock and other scraps you may have ...Playing with those scraps and misc. embellishents you can create beautiful similar cards in a short amount of time. Ribbon, accent markers, brads etc add distinction. With ONE piece of 12x12 you can cut out 18 atc sized blanks to build on. Sure you are aiming for 20 in this swap so maybe cut up 2 sheets of cardstock that work with your patterned paper and have extras ready for next swap. They don't have to be cookie cutter... but don't feel that each one has to be totally different than the next one... ( they can be of course)

Once you mail your cards out the 2nd tier of fun begins! Going to the mailbox and having it piled with fun mail! If this is not your cup of tea, fine. But if it interests you... give it a try! This theme is very general on purpose. Many many paper craft supplies suit it. You probably have everything you need in your stash. Please Enjoy!

Am I understaning this, I would send out 20 to different people and I would then get 20. Is that right?

user6456 08/10/2011 #

That is the plan. We need a few more to make it an even 20. But i think there will be some last minute sign ups. I hope.

I am surprised by some of the comments on this swap. This is a Mega swap. This typically means "20". A mini Mega is "10". The name of the swap means there are a lot of partners. These swaps are really fun. You send a lot, but you receive a lot. The host is correct, it was posted in July so people would have plenty of time to make the ATC's. The short time between signup and send was planned for. Please let the host enjoy the swap for the purpose it was intended - as a lot of cheer after surgery. Thank you user6546 for hosting great swaps. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

So I am sending these tomorrow and I would only send out 16? Is that correct?

I am putting this message on my Profile as well. I just got my list this morning Monday 15 Aug. I will need at least two days to make and send. Thank you, FritosMom
