Description:

If you are into crafting (and we know you are), you have lots of leftover scraps from whatever it is you do. You have stickers you'll never use, bits of ribbon that never found a use, paper you've cut what you needed from, fibers from left over projects... the list goes on.

This swap is ideal for paper crafters, srapbookers, and anything else you can think scraps can be used for. Stationary and smallish beads & embellishments are good, too. It's also for us poor folk who'll only be able to afford the postage to send this stuff (about $5).

The golden rules:

Send an amount of stuff that you yourself would like to receive.

Send the quality of what you would like to receive. (don't send a tiny 1/4 piece of ribbon, don't send a crumpled, damaged piece of paper, etc...)

If you can find one of those large flat-rate envelopes, that's what I want you to fill up, since everything you'll be sending will be flat. These envelope are like... 9" x 11" I think? Just ask for the flat rate one, should only cost $5 to $6. By the time you're done stuffing the thing, it should be nicely filled. If you have to fold some paper in half/quarters, do so. I don't know what to set for price or quantity, as items will vary, swapper to swapper.

If you can't find that envelope, use a bubble mailer with similar dimensions and pack that thing!

I'm keeping this at one on one so we can send one lump of stuff to one person, so we all get a whole lot.

I'm sorry this was so long, this is my first swap ever, and I wanted it to be clear ^-^

just a thought: If the envelope is a flat rate anyway, why not make it international???? (yes, it's the same price!)

user3731 09/20/2006 #

Ohhh really?? Sweet-ass. I'll make it international then. Poor crafters: rejoice!

user3731 09/20/2006 #

Note to all: I started putting together my package tonight and I'm astounded by the things I never thought of to add to the list (for example, I'm going to actually include several lengths of hemp string). So if anyone thinks they don't have anything to contribute, just take a peek at your stash(es)! ^-^

And there is likely over 100 individual items... O.o

Arent flat rate envelopes only for use in the US?? Just wanted to double check, as I cant afford to send out of the country

user3731 09/22/2006 #

Hagit says its the same price. I'll look at the USPS website.

user3731 09/24/2006 #

Okay people, I looked up the envelope I was talking about http://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10152&storeId=10001&categoryId=13354&productId=11631&langId=-1 On the website it says "shis anywhere" but when I dug up my stash of envelopes and read it, it says "Domestic use only". So I'm going to make the Scrap Swap for U.S. only. Sorry guys!

tisdagsregn 09/26/2006 #

oh please please make this an international swap next time. :(

CJQueenSwaper 09/26/2006 #

I would be happy to send to someone international. Cathy Jewell

user3731 09/27/2006 #

Okay, I'll make it international next time, so we'll be using the GLOBAL priority flat rate envelopes.

My swap of scrapping goodies is on it's way to Mary!

Iowascrapemouse 09/27/2006 #

This swap is international...I am sending mine to Joanne in Australia....I will be mailing it out tomorrow, after I get it into an envelope that the post office would take. They are very picky, even with the ATCs I am sending in the US.

user3731 09/27/2006 #

My swap partner ended up being Weezie, who is a friend in real life. I will be seeing her tonight, so she gets her stuff right away.

Micky - I really wanted to keep costs down for this swap, I hope it didn't cost you too much.

user3731 09/27/2006 #

I was thinking about setting up a blog for this swap. What does everybody think?

Iowascrapemouse 10/ 2/2006 #

If Cathy Jewell sent the package she sent me, she would have to pay about $15.00 postage. It arrived on Saturday, but I was gone until today. What a surprise!!! I love it all and will put it to good use...what is really funny is that I traded some of the same paper to a friend. It is brown with white swirls, I laughed when I saw it..the rest is all stuff that is NEW to me.

user3731 10/ 4/2006 #

That's great to hear Mickey! I'm glad the swap worked out nicely for you. I haven't got mine yet though. I've been drooling on the mailbox everday now :-p

user3948 10/ 5/2006 #

I still haven't gotten mine, either, but I'm excited!

roberta51503 10/11/2006 #

Dear Yarngirl,
I'm sorry I wasn't able to mail it until Tuesday. you should have it soon, if not let me know and i will send another package out to you.

roberta51503 10/14/2006 #

Sent out second package today, with delivery confirmation, so I will know this time if you don't get it. Sorry the first one went astray.

user3948 10/16/2006 #

Roberta, I think I finally got the first one Friday! I can send you back the second one. I don't want you to have to send extra stuff! I really liked the first one you sent. My kids went absolutely crazy over the teddy bear stickers, they are sooo cute! My son was plastering them all over my daughter. Very fun stuff!

roberta51503 10/16/2006 #

yarngirl,

please keep the second envelope. I have plenty of extra stuff!!! My husband is quite happy to see it go...he hasn't caught on that when I send I also receive!!! Glad you liked what I sent enjoy the second one too!

user3948 10/18/2006 #

Roberta,

Thanks so much! That is awfully sweet of you! I hope to see you in other swaps and be able to return the favor.
