Description:

I have gathered some quotes from various sources and pulled a theme from each. Your mission for each swap in this new series is to interpret the theme in some creative manner. The source material will be provided to give you some context. All you need to use, however, is the theme in any interpretation.

Write a scene, a story, a poem, an essay, a song, a comic, etc. Whatever it is you do, go create something on the theme.

For this swap, the theme is:

Driving a car at night

Here is the source material if you would like it to provide context: “Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way." -- E.L. Doctorow (American author)

Oh, yes, one can do a lot with that idea. For not it's on the back burning getting warmed up.

Does it have to be about writing a novel? Can I interpret it in an essay about writing a nonfiction book? Because I think it applies to both...

No, you use the theme "Driving a car at night." You can do anything and go in any direction you'd like.

I just provide the whole quote so people will know where it came from.

Have fun!
