I am!!!!!!

LaLuna 04/ 5/2011 #

what is the size of these?

neca84 04/ 6/2011 #

well I went to the tutorial and did what the author said dragged the template to my desktop then I copied it onto a word doc and it measures approx 4 inches high and just over 2 inches wide at the widest part of the roof.

skippysmom 04/ 6/2011 #

I don't usually join international swaps because of the postage and chance that the item could get lost. But this just looks like so much fun and it would be easy to make another if it gets lost. I'm in.

RyeRye 04/ 6/2011 #

wow, that is really small....

skippysmom 04/ 6/2011 #

Is it okay to add paint? paper? trim? Embroidery? Sorry, I'm a requirements analyst (at work) and my mind naturally goes to the specifics.

LaLuna 04/ 6/2011 #

@neca84 thanks so much. my printer and computer are having a small tiff and aren't communicating with each other.

neca84 04/ 7/2011 #

@skippysmom I would say its ok to add whatever you want to fit the theme.

@RyeRye it does seem small but if someone wanted to use them on a Christmas Tree they would be ideal size I guess.

RyeRye 04/ 7/2011 #

oh, cute idea Neca!! Thanks

yomousey 04/ 8/2011 #

I think they're adorable, I'm in!

samjowers 04/ 9/2011 #

I am a christmas ornament fanatic so...Mine will definately going on to the Christmas tree! :D Feel free to use Christmas colors and @skippysmom , I welcome the idea of incorporating unique stuff! good idea! Will it hurt if the houses are a smidge bigger? say 5 tall and 3 wide? Although 4x2 is great too! say something in that range? just in case we have stuff coming off the edges?

scarlett1110 04/ 9/2011 #

These would be perfect for our Christmas trees! Love the idea!

lettergirl 04/ 9/2011 #

I don't even know how to use a sewing machine, so I am watching until I can get someone to show me how to thread the bobbin and all that, but man are these cute! And furthermore, that is a great blog, too! Thanks for doing this swap!

grandmaroro 04/ 9/2011 #

I love the picture of the houses - but the discussion is what drawing me in. Now --- where did I put that sewing machine??? I agree with samjowers, using Christmas theme will suit me perfectly. I will probably make extras as I love any and all Christmas swaps.

Karenmomofthree 04/ 9/2011 #

I just did mine and I love it, I hope my partner does too! I did mine all by hand. Very calming.

Marryth 04/ 9/2011 #

These are so adorable - if I'm able to get some of that heat-bond stuff in time, I'll definitely have to give them a go!

samjowers 04/10/2011 #

I looked at the tutorial. the size 4x2 has been bothering me. they just dont look right. when I looked at the tutorial, she has them laying on a grid that the squares are 1 inch. the house looks like it it actually 6 inches tall! does it matter if the house is exactly the shape and size that she has? I know her pattern came out to be the four inches tall when copied. @lettergirl If you do great handwork, you dont really need a sewing machine! @Neca84 did you leave this open to our interpretation or do you want everyone to recieve the same size? I am so willing to do what ever you want, I just need the clarification! :D Sorry that I am so confused on the size.

yomousey 04/10/2011 #

@lettergirl mine will be done with iron-on fusible and hand stitched. My sewing machine died:( Anybody want to take up a collection to buy me a new one or repair my old one? LOL!

neca84 04/10/2011 #

I think size can be varied to make them more fun, but lets make them NOT more than 6 inches hight, or they would be getting a bit too big for tree decs then .. ok?

samjowers 04/11/2011 #

Thanks! :D

AngelFaeryKathleen 04/11/2011 #

I think like samjowers they are 6" going by the grid in the tutorial. Mine will be 6" and in Christmas as I have a lot of row houses that I hang across the dinning room at Christmas and I will do the same with these :-)

skippysmom 04/12/2011 #

I made one and it was a lot of fun. With the iron-on backing, you really don't even need to sew it. Everything can be glued on. It would be nice if there was a place on the back to write your swap-name. I only have 18 ornaments on my tree so these will really be welcome. I'm going to make extras.

principeta 04/15/2011 #

I have to ask first,is it must be sewn by sewing machine and use felt for backing? Thanks.

neca84 04/16/2011 #

no not a must, @principeta any fabric can be used

skippysmom 04/21/2011 #

I would like to get started on some of the other month's houses. Is July the only month that is the receiver's choice? I'd like to make up some houses and then spend spare time decorating them.

neca84 04/24/2011 #

yes thats the only one @skippysmom all the rest are senders choice within the themes
