So just to clarify, should we actually make the journal or send papers and have our partner assemble it? This sounds fun either way!! ♥The funkier the papers the better as far as I'm concerned♥

It wouldn't be normal paper so cost should be minimal. If you've looked at the link you'll see that the example uses things that would have been laying around the house.

In addition there are some really awesome and free printable things online.

This is more of a stuffed envelope swap than a "how many" thing. So give as much as you'd like to receive.

I'm thinking of making the time to sign up smaller and the time that we have knowing our partners longer.

Would there be any objections???

I've edited the swap to reflect a last day to sign up of Jan 19th and a send out of Feb 12th.

That should give plenty of time to gather pages that are interesting, useful, and recycled as well as writing really good journal prompts.

I also added a definitive number of pages so that we can agree on the fulfillment of the swap. If I was sent more than 25 pages and 10 journal prompts, I would be giving a heart for certain.

Can we alter papers to make them journal-able? Like, if I have book pages, I can add a more writing-friendly piece of cardstock/paper on it and use the book page as a sort of...mat?

Has anyone else tried going to "giddygiddy.com."? I tried last night and again this morning and today I got a shop selling baby hair clips. While they are adorable, they are not even close to a journal. What am I doing wrong?

Oh, I wasn't really concerned with the cost of shipping, just more concerned with not sending enough papers. That and not giving a minimum of pages to be sent kind of leaves room for people to someone to send as little as they want.

Personally I will be asking my partner what size journal pages they would like to receive.

Or we could just all say what size they want here and be surprised.

Personally I'd like all sizes of paper because I have several journals that I'll be adding these papers to.

For my papers I will take either 3"x5",or 4"x6", ^_^

Does anyone have any links that they could share about binding the pages?

Preferences: Smaller (3x5 or 4x6ish) over larger, but as long as they are close to uniform, I'll take whatever comes your way!

I would like either 5x7 most, but will be happy with 4x6 as well. 5x7 just gives me extra binding room. But I won't rate down for 4x6. I realize this depends on the kind of paper you have and all that.

I don't have much preference on size...

Great idea. I'd like any pre sized pages left as is, i.e: book pages, receipts, etc. If you need to cut down to size, I'd like 8" x 10"

I am thinking about this one. The postage would be bad if I got someone who wanted 8x10, I am thinking that would have to go in a box because 25 pages won't fit in a manilla envelope....I think.

I just finished a 'poor man's journal' for circulation in my local art group, and I love it! It's 7" x 8", with a sewn binding, and a cover made from an experimental piece done in a recent abstract art workshop, through the same group. I've lots more papers, and since this was the inspiration for my own journal, I want to play! 8" x 10" is good for me, as I'd like to do a smaller book this time, maybe 4" x 6", or 5" square...

Just so's you know: I thought I'd mailed this last week, but found it in the car this a.m....it's in the mail now, and I've messaged my partner...also changed the 'sent' to 'unsent' and back, so the date (late as it is) is accurate. Anyhow... this was a great swap!
