Description:

Round 2 of the Ugly Yarn Swap that was a wonderful success last time. PLEASE read through the rules carefully before signing up!

This one's gonna be a little different. For this swap, you'll be sending your swap partner all your "ugly" yarn. By this I mean, almost all of us have some yarn lying around which we never use because we don't like the color, texture, fiber, etc. We consider it "ugly".

The idea behind this swap is, while YOU think its ugly, someone else may find it beautiful or unique!

And when you are sending your "ugly" yarn out, just think that you find it completely ugly, but there's only a 50% chance that the person receiving it will think it's ugly, and you get a shot at getting something better!!

Now the catch is, by signing up for this swap, you agree that you may indeed receive "ugly" yarn in return. There is no guarantee you will find it beautiful...these are what others consider "ugly".

BUT you have a shot at getting something better than what you had, which you already didn't like anyway!

If you are still with me here, each person will have 2 partners, and should send each partner at least 1 good-sized skien or ball of yarn (enough to make, say, a dishcloth at the least). You can send more than one ball/skien for hearts. The yarn does NOT have to be store-bought, it can be anything you have in your current stash :) Also you CAN send along smaller balls of yarn (as some people can use small amounts of yarn for granny squares or ephemera, etc.) But you should at LEAST include one good-sized ball or skien of yarn in the package :)

Because "ugly" is a point of view, please rate a "5" as long as you receive your yarn - not if you think it's ghastly :) For clarity: Acrylic, Cotton, Nylon, Fun Fur, corn yarn, hand-dyed, ANY type of yarn is OK to send. Please do NOT sign up if you are a total yarn snob and truly dislike most non-specialty yarns. This is NOT about preferences...you can take your partner's preferences into account or hearts, but your partner should rate you a 5 if you send at least one skien of yarn that they aren't allergic to, of any color and fiber. Hearts can be given for more than one skien or for sending special packages, etc.

But please do NOT specify that you do or don't like certain yarns as the intent of this swap is to get rid of yarn you don't like or want in the chance you may get something you do like or want. OR just to get rid of parts of your stash you don't need anymore!

This swap is open to the US only. Please list in comments below if you are allergic to certain fibers so that your partner (please check below when you are assigned to your partners) can be sure to take that into account. Allergies are the only "preference" allowed ;)

Newbies welcome with a filled out profile. Others must have a rating of at least 4.5 with no recent no-sends (if you feel you are an exception, message me and I'd love to chat).

Let's turn these ugly ducklings into beautiful swans!

it'd be fun if you also had to crochet or knit a square out of the both yarns you got and send 'em to the person you got 'em from! haha!

:-D

I am really allergic to wool, as is 2 of my kids. I am signing up in hopes that my partner will not send me wool. I do not care if yarn is ugly or not I always find a use for it!

These ugly yarn swaps are turning out to be quite popular aren't they? There must be a lot of ugly yarn out there!! hehehe
