Description:

Let's make some magnets! You know those clear flat glass marbles pieces that some people put in fish tanks or vases? You know, those ones that come in bags at the dollar store. Well, when you cut out a picture and glue it to the flat side of the glass piece and stick a magnet on the back you get a nifty looking fridge magnet! You can use any size glass marble piece. Though, be courteous to your partner, if you use the small marbles, please include an extra magnet or two. (I use the ones that are roughly 1"-1 1/2") I love these magnets and have been busy making tons of them for gifts and fun. I like to find pictures from magazines, but you can find pictures anywhere!

For this swap, make up at least 4 of these glass marble magnets and send them to your partner. It is recommended to wrap them in some sort of tissue paper or bubble wrap before dropping them in the envelope.

It is always a good idea to check your partners profile for ideas on their personal tastes, but it is not required for this swap. If you would like to make them up ahead of time, that is ok. This will add to the surprise! I am setting this swap with enough time to be able to make and receive some quality magnets in the tail end of the winter holidays. If there are any concerns, please pm me.

This is a US only swap this time around. If we get enough swappers that want an international swap, I will gladly host one. Newbies are welcome with a well filled out profile. I will be checking. I will angel if someone gets flaked on.

Craftster.com has a great tutorial video located here: http://www.craftster.org/video/How-to-Make-Marble-Magnets-and-Picture-Marbles-216866989

Also, Craftster.org has many examples along with google images.

Enjoy! Happy creating & swapping! :-)

Does it have to be the small ones from the dollar store or may we use any size? I have larger pieces that I have been wanting to try.

Any size. I use the 1" size. I will modify the swap to say this. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

This will be my first time making these. I will do a couple of trial runs so that my final product for the swap will be good! I am very excited!
