Description:

I LOVE journals. This will be time intensive. I'm starting it in February so that you can finish the Dec/Jan journals and then jump into this one.

I love learning about people's heritage and/or traditions. You might have multiple people groups and ethnicities or you might have one. You might have grown up knowing all about it, or have no clue. This is a learning experience for all. Pick ONE. If you're Irish/Russian/Lebanese, pick ONE. If you are all of those, and grew up deep southern or Jewish, pick ONE. It can be a cultural heritage or a country heritage. It can be religious heritage (as many people consider their religion as part of their heritage), but don't try to convert anyone.

So... Take a journal. This can be an altered composition book or bought or handmade. It needs to be sturdy and nice. Nothing less than 4x6.

Here is what you fill it with (minimum) prompts: Where I come from (include whether or not you grew up with the stuff in the journal or just researched it) Holiday Tradition (can be one you research or one you celebrate) A traditional recipe Famous people that share that heritage (or from that country) A traditional fairy tale (This can be printed and pasted, but please cite where you got it from) A picture or postcard representing your heritage Something (maybe a saying) that originates from this heritage Please include a map of where your people come from. Don't just paste a map. Make a note or decorate it (maybe a map, but like an ATC).

Please include 6 other entries for a total of 15 entries. The other 6 can be about how you learned about it, what was most interesting to you, how you feel about it (love/hate/surprised/disgusted), Whether or not you will incorporate some of these traditions into your modern life for future generations, etc.

optional: if you feel brave, try mimicking some of the folk art optional: Print out a quote or something (non-offensive) in the heritage language

This is not a place for politics. For example, you can be proud to be from the South and talk about sweet tea and BBQ. You may state that a relative fought in the Civil war. You may NOT discuss things that might be offensive (such as whether or not the war was right). You may discuss that a relative fought for Germany in WWII. You may NOT be offensive to the groups that were harmed in WWII. Do NOT be derogatory.

This is international, so please understand that you might be partnered with someone in an area more sensitive to political things or wars.

The point of this is to learn and share about heritage. Please be open minded and remember that WE CANNOT CHANGE OUR PAST AND WE CANNOT CHOOSE OUR RELATIVES OR OUR HERITAGE.

We can embrace it.

Happy Swapping.

No recent ones. No 3's without a good explanation. Ratings averaging less than 4.7 will be at my discretion (meaning PM me and I'll review your profile and your plea).
