Description:

Start the new year with a pencil case full of goodies from your stash! You'll send one pencil case to one partner. If you don't have a pencil case sitting around at home, they're available at most dollar stores and art supply stores, as well as anywhere school supplies are sold. Better yet, make your own! In any case, try to avoid the cheap, boring black nylon type pencil cases and look for ones with interesting colors, patterns, or materials.

Don't forget the goodies! Stuff that pencil case with items from your stash. Some ideas: ribbon, embroidery floss, fabric scraps, or yarn; decorated clothespins; tealight candles; rubber stamps; jewelry findings and beads; friendship bracelets; feathers; matchboxes; teabags; and anything else you can fit in there. You could even be super literal and thrown in some pencils. This is sender's choice, but it's always nice to check profiles for dislikes and preferences.

This swap involves a pretty quick turnaround. You must have a 4.75 rating or better, and have completed at least ten non-electronic swaps (I will check!). Flakers need not apply, but if someone does I will angel. I've made it regional for the US and Canada since postage will be fairly high, but if anyone wants to steal the idea and host an international version, go for it.

Ooohh, good idea!

Is there a requirement as to the size or material of the pencil case? The one in your picture looks like it is made of leather/fabric. Would a plastic zip-top pouch that has holes to fit into a 3-ring binder be acceptable? (No, this is NOT something I would send... I am just curious about the requirements.) Would an Asian wooden pencil box/chopstick holder be a good fit for this swap? They are smaller but definately a more quality item. Thanks, in advance, for your clarification. I am watching, for now :-)

Sounds so much fun! Joining!

BarkleysMommy, great question! The case I'm sending measures 8" x 2" x 2", but I am open to different sizes and styles as long as they're big enough to qualify as a pencil case. Those binder pouches are pretty plain, and I'd rather participants make their own than send something so ordinary. This swap is about the case itself as much as its contents. I'll add a note to the description as well.

The wooden pencil box/chopstick holder sounds amazing and I'm sure it would be treasured by any swapper!

Would you consider doing a private swap with a noob? I understand I don't meet the minimum requirements yet, but was wondering if maybe I could send my pencil case to you and you wouldn't have to send anything to me until it was received?

snarkystitches, I'm sending a message your way!

Neat! I'd love a neat patterned one. But nothing pink.

I can't find any pencil cases around here, except the basic zippered ones, is it okay if I use a different type of bag, that is about the same size as a pencil case ?

where do you live Angeleyzee? I found a great one on the clearance rack at a bookstore.
