Description:
You will make an ATC for one partner. The theme for this swap series is embroidery, for this swap (first in the series) use chain stitch. Your item can have any theme as long as a chain stitch is present somewhere on the ATC. Feel free to do a whipped chain stitch or variations of the chain stitch. Do something you would like to receive, not to forget the standard measures: 2 Â½ x 3 Â½ inches (64 X 89 mm). You may stitch on felt, fabric, paper, anything as long as the finished embroidery is on something sturdy such as card stock. Remember: The Card Can Be in any medium you like as long as it displays effort ... (Not just a sticker / print out on the card). Make something you'd Be thrilled to receive. I'd love newbies to embroidery to join! I am hoping to work more on my embroidery stitches with this series of ATC's. There are lots of resources for learning embroidery online. Thanks for sharing this one, TangleCrafts.

I'm watching for now, just wondering if this should be on fabric or can it be on paper? I have paper that was given to me with chain stitch on it, really pretty. I have no idea how it was done. also since I didn't do the chain stitch would that be ok? I can do it just want to make sure of the guidelines.

As long as it has actual embroidery on it (paper or fabric) I'm open to whatever creative approaches may be used. Essentially I want to stay away from images of embroidery and instead have the texture of real embroidery. I won't put any limitations on whether it is done personally or not as this is hard to guage.

Thanks for answering my question. I'm joining and off to join the lazy daisy stitch too. I really need to work on my embroidery. My mom does the most beautiful work, it's like it was done by machine. The front and back look the same. Mine looks like chicken scratch on the back (sometimes the front too, LOL)

if you make it on fabric, how do you then make it sturdy on card stock?

I would recommend a strong double-stick tape (Tacky Tape), glue that won't ruin your fabric, or even stitching it around the edges on the cardstock would work. Any other ideas are fine, too, just try to back your fabric piece neatly to create an ATC.
