Make the outside really cool, interesting and exciting to wear and then create something on the inside as well somewhat like a locket. There are lot's of ideas on the internet or in books. Think victorian, steampunk, rusted (if so, please seal with a clear sealer) eccentric, bohemian, etc.

i'm so glad you joined misspaula. i'm excited and i think it's something everybody can do. i've been dying to use this cute little old vintage tin i have that had watch parts in it. so this is the perfect opportunity. hope you enjoy the swap.

I have a vintage tin that Is a little rusty and really cool but it is about 3 inchs long. Would I be able to alter it and give it as a jewelry container instead of a jewelry piece? Thanks.

Amberingz 11/22/2010 #

i am in....But, is it possible to open the item to to be a piece of Jewelry of any type...That way we have the choice of ring and Bracelet also??? PRETTY PLEASE!
i might need to drop if not, but I will try my hardest to come up with something before cut off date

I am going to work on this and see what I can come up with. If I can do it, I am in. :-)

OOH! I saw one of these recently and was dying to try it! Watching for now while I search for the perfect thing!

This swap sounds lovely, but am not sure what size those metal boxed should be. I saw some rather small tin boxes here but not sure if they would be too small or even too big XD.

mamacrafter you tin sounds perfect.

amberingz i'd like to keep it to a necklace or brooch but perhaps this could be a great swap for next month...i could host or you could host it doesn't matter. i'm not sure i could find a tin small enough that i'd want to give up to make a bracelet or ring....

slewis234 11/27/2010 #

mimmeli - i don't know what to tell you but i've seen tins that originally had watch parts, typewriter parts, little car parts, nuts and bolts, etc. in them. even some small altoids tins would be great.

slewis234 11/27/2010 #

i would think even a tin the size of a 32 ct. matchbox would still be ok...or even a little bigger. just use your judgement and see what you can create. it's all in fun.

Watching!

Ok..remember the swap tag kind of thread. I'd join this swap if?.... hah, that was hilarious and for some reason it keeps playing back in my head when i type for this swaps comment section... How bout a Non-Vintage Tin decked out with Vintage parts? This is my last hope...I understand if you wish to not edit your swap guidelines. Either way i will see you next month to get busy on my Vintage Ring Tin..

amberingz, that's cool too. you can always paint it, scrape the paint on it etc. to make it look old. if you like. but a new one is fine too as long as the overall look when you're done is vintage style. ok?
