Description:

I used to love Halloween as a kid, but miss it now that my kids are almost too old to Trick or Treat. It was fun to dress up in a costume and go door to door to see what lay in store for you, be it candy or a special surprise.

Each person will have one swap partner. Fill a sandwich size ziplock bag 6.5 inches by 5 7/8 inches (16.5 cm x 14.9 cm) with Halloween themed goodies. It can be candy, stickers, and anything pertaining to the holiday. A mixture of items rather than just one kind of item (not just a bag full of sweets). You can include homemade items and/or store bought.

I am setting the cost at not more than $10 before postage.

I will allow newbies to this swap so you can get your feet wet. Please don't flake on anyone. I will check profiles and ban anyone with unexplained 1s or 3s in the past 2 months, unless you message me.

This will also be International as it would be neat to see how other countries celebrate.

We don't really celebrate Halloween, because it is an American thing. But often we have trick or treat's going around, just for fun :D

Same as Tangerine above. But im sure i can find some Halloween goodies, (places like Cheap shops) often have some items we can put into this swap. :o)

Avtualy Halloween is not just an American celebration. If I'm not mistaken it originated here in Scotland (if I'm wrong I'll eat my witches' hat ;>) Really it is called "guising" but nowadays children often call it trick or treat. When I was little , many moona ago, we used to talk about "Going out for your Halloween" and this phrase is still used a lot. When someone opened the door we would say "anything for my Halloween?" and we would be invited into the house and had to perform something - sing a song, recite a poem, do a dance and only after that were we given anything to put in our bags. Children spent as long working out their party piece as they did working on their costume. Soooo different nowadays. Sorry for the story. This swap just sent me down memory lane!

Can we include handmade things?

heliogal 09/13/2010 #

Gofeen, I loved hearing about your Halloween traditions! Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love the way it was celebrated in the past. I hosted a Victorian style masquerade ball last Halloween and hope to do the same this year. My guests, the ones who wanted to, performed poems, songs, ect... Thanks again for sharing!!

How big is a Sandwich-bag where you live? Or how much money may we spend on this swap? :)

Tatsu 09/25/2010 #

Same as AlmostAlwaysAnAngel, I'd like to know if there's a price range or what size the sandwich bag should be.

Should the swap send by date end sooner so we actually recieve these around Halloween?

leighlo 09/26/2010 #

Sorry to have missed those details. The sandwich bag I had in mind is 6.5 inches by 5 7/8 inches (16.5 cm x 14.9 cm). What does everyone think of the cost? I am thinking not more than $10 before postage.

You may include handmade, or store bought. I was thinking of a mixed bag of items when I posted the swap.

Thanks for the questions.

heidijo 10/ 1/2010 #

i dont have big ziploc baggies like that,so could a couple smaller ziploc baggies that equal out to the bigger one work? i wont be skimpy,i promise :-)

leighlo 10/ 8/2010 #

Smaller baggies will work well. Use enough to make up the size of the big one I guess.
