One of my former swappers here on Swap-bot sent me a piece of paper she said she made using the Shaving Cream Paint Technique. I thought that sounded interesting. A few weeks ago, it was demonstrated live during a Facebook craft get-together. I tried it this past week and it was fun. Check out my blog post above. At the bottom of the post, another blogger has a step-by-step. She used food coloring. I used acrylics. So in this swap, you are to make 1 complete Artist Trading Card using the above paper you will make as a background. You are also to send your swapper at least 2 blanks (finished shaving cream/paint) so they can make their own ATCs. Try to find something interesting in your background design and go from there. Don't cover up the background too much! Please join if you have a 4.5 or greater. Be nice, it's my first time hosting a swap. : )

Since it's so fresh on my mind and I want to make a few more sheets, I thought the Swap-bot artists may be interested. All you need is shaving cream, paint and paper-dirt cheap.

This technique makes really fantastic backgrounds using alcohol inks and glossy photo paper.

How funny I was just making some blanks from some shaving cream marbled paper I made a while back. It's fun and so easy.

Maybe I'm not reading something right? I don't understand the line..."you are to make 1 complete Artist Trading Card using the above paper as a background". What "above paper"? Your paper on your blog? Or do you mean, 1 ATC from paper we made with the "above technique" and then two blanks? Sorry, I think I'm being dense!

Right-make one completed ATC from the paper you made with the above technique and send along a few blanks for your partner to use to make new ATCs.

For the least smelly shaving cream I recommend barbasol soothing aloe shaving cream. Also the shaving gel does not work, at all.

If someone knows of a less scented one please let me know!

I've been using barbasol too. Thanks for the info that the aloe one is less scented (although the scent really doesn't bother me). Last round I used acrylic paints and had fun. This round I used alcohol inks -- love the results! Very sharp clean images. Next will try food colorings and then distress ink reinkers. Such a fun technique!

I used my son's gel first time around and had to whip it up good. Second time I found Barbasol-about the same results. Glad you are having fun experimenting.
