PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION I've updated it.

It's not easy being a newbie. I became hooked on swapping due to the awesome swappers that gave me a chance when I started. To them, I am eternally grateful. I'd like to carry that torch in their honor.

Being a semi-experienced swapper, I have a HUGE stash. It wasn't like that when I was a newbie. My intention is to start an open-ended series of swaps for newbies. The swap is non-specific on purpose. If you are unsure what your partner would smile about, send them a message. Communicate. Give them a few options of what you can provide and allow them to choose.

For clarification: This is intended to be a one-stamp, easy swap. If you send a package, that's fine, but do not expect one in return. Make your partner smile while keeping postage costs reasonable. If you have any questions, please PM me!

What To Do

Once partners are assigned, you can go to the swap's homepage. In the box to the right, you will find a clickable link that says: "See the partners you send to".

This will open a box with your partner's names and addresses. Please click on their swap-bot user name and it will take you to their profile.

Read their profile. Choose something that will make them smile. The smallest thing can cause such happiness. The idea is to send them something they will like and add a personal touch. Let them know you care.

Throwing five ribbons in an envelope is not showing you care, if you know what I mean. Suggestions include a personal note, decorate the envelope, an item from their wishlist, presenting the items in a unique way, etc.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to include a note with your swapbot user name and the swap name. This is how your partner will know who to rate.

Requirements

A well filled out profile. Three paragraphs is not enough. The intention of a profile is so I can get to know you and what you like a little better. (It doesn't need to be nearly as dramatic as my profile, lol!)

A small, lightweight, flat items wishlist or likes list. For example: notecards, address labels, postcards, stickers, etc. The goal is a simple, inexpensive swap.

Don't get all huffy if I ban you. I am more than willing to do private swaps with those I ban, providing I don't catch an attitude. I do what's best for ALL of my participants. I am always available to answer questions and help in any way I can.

Because I intend to angel all of my swaps, I read profiles carefully and I am strict with my requirements. I reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason. But, I will usually offer a private swap.

Happy Swapping!

ATTENTION, PLEASE: Because this is the next round, please be sure you have sent your previous swap out. I do not want to see newbies biting off more than the can chew (as I did, heehee) so I check carefully- what swaps you are in, if you are late on anything, your ratings, your profile (it should grow as you do as a swapper), the comments on your profile, etc.

EXPERIENCED SWAPPERS IN GOOD STANDING ARE WELCOME AT ALL TIMES. Questions? PM me and we'll chat. :)

Please do not feel afraid to approach me via PM if you have any concerns, questions, complaints, compliments, etc. I am here to help you get familiar with this swapping environment. All concerns will be kept confidential. Seriously, I'm here if you need me.

this is awesome, I just sent my first swap and I was having so much trouble figuring everything out :) this helps a TON. =D

@conniebobear I'm glad it helps. :) Thank you for the encouragement.

Quote - "Because I intend to angel all of my swaps" what exactly does this mean?? A newbie....LOL

DarbyFlats 07/29/2010 #

When someone "angels a swap" it means they provide a swap for someone who was flaked on. It really stinks when you create something nice for your partner and get nothing in return. So, for all the swaps that I can, I provide an angel. (This also minimizes risk for experienced swappers. It helps them give newbies a chance. This is round #4 and I've only had to angel for one person!)

Ask more questions if I wasn't making sense! :)

So glad I found this! I've been wanting to swap for the longest time but couldn't figure out how to get started and didn't want to seem like an idiot with it. I'm all excited now and can't wait to get a partner and put together something for them!

This will technically be my third swap here but I like that it's a simple, flat envelope swap! My last one cost me $7 to ship! But I went a little overboard! Hehe! Looking forward to this one!

DarbyFlats 07/30/2010 #

@ethereality88 Thanks! :) I'll be assigning partners tomorrow.

@twinfreckles We all go a little overboard sometimes, lol. :) Once you get the hang of postage, it gets better. They have all kinds of rules that trip me up! ;)

I forgot to click on the send button when I sent out my envies. I spoke with the Host of this swap and she said I should just go ahead and click it now and leave this message so that my swap partners know she's already aware.

Thanks Darby ...
