Description:

Handmade fabric bags are a great, eco-friendly alternative to gift wrapping. Let's surprise our partners with a nicely-made, fabric bag filled with a profile surprise.

There are many styles of bags, in various sizes and sewing-skill levels, with tutorials available on the internet. Choose one that suits you best, and craft it using a fall theme or color scheme. You may sew it, knit it, or crochet it. Just make it large enough to hold your surprises.

Once you have constructed your bag, fill it with some autumn surprises (perhaps some thread, fabrics, something handmade by you, etc; look at your partners' profiles for ideas of crafting materials and other items they may enjoy). Spend a minimum of $4 on the surprise items. Let's go for quality over quantity and try to send a "wow" swap to our partners.

  • We will have one partner.

  • Create a bag using the fiber-crafting method of your choice.

  • Fill the bag with one or more fall themed or colored items, spending a minimum of $4. Take a look at your partner's profile and try to send items you think they will enjoy.

  • Include a chatty note to your partner to personalize the swap. Simply including your name and swap name is not sufficient.

  • Please package the swap well to protect it in its travel from your home to your partner's.

  • Sending your swap out by the send-by deadline is considered a requirement of the swap. In the rare event that you must send late, please contact your partner AND the swap host by the send date.

  • All members, including international members, in good standing are invited to join the swap. I will ban those who have unexplained or unresolved 1s and 3s. Please contact me if you have an extenuating circumstance. I will also, unfortunately, ban those who haven't logged on for more than one week prior to partner assignment. (If you know you'll be away from the computer around that time, simply send me a PM. Thanks!)

Have a beautiful fall, and happy sewing! :-)

Thanks to @Kari for allowing me to use her swap idea!

Brilliant, really looking forward to my 1st swap as part of your group. I will sew the bag I make as I don't knit or crochet. Thanks for a great swap. X

If you are my partner, would love a decent sized tote for everyday with lots of pockets!

The bag is "sender's choice", so it will be up to the sender's skill level, choice of methods, etc. as to what type of bag you will receive. The bag may be as large as a tote or as small as a drawstring bag that might hold sewing supplies. I hope everyone will enjoy the surprise!

I'm looking over everyone's profiles before assigning partners. I'll be back online late tonight and hope to assign partners then. Thanks for your patience!

Oh I know it is sender's choice, I just thought that if I got a sewing expert out there that I might encourage their creativity in some way! heheh... Obviously I will be delighted with whatever I receive!

:-) Encouragement is good.

Partners have been assigned. Have a great time making your autumn packages for your partner!
