Hi I think this will be a fun swap and I hope a lot of people play if you have any questions just ask

daffyd1963 08/ 7/2007 #

now for my info

my favorite colors are purple and black

my idea of a wand is a not perfectly stright old stick with the bark partialy removed or left on doesn't really matter could be wire wrapped a bit I would love to have a dragon or orb on the holding end (handle) of it and maybe some beads dangling from the handle as well a crystal mounted to the side maybe im not really that picky just use your imagination and have fun with it . I want to display it on my wall with my other magic stuff and I would like it to look like its full of magic I don't want it to look like a kids toy but like a real wand thanks carolyn h

Oh what fun! This is something I've never done before.

A nature-y looking wand is fine with me, i.e. it doesn't have to have any or all of the bark off. I love copper, and bright colors.

Are there any size guidelines?

daffyd1963 08/ 8/2007 #

size guide lines

they should be at least 14 inches long and not much more that 18 inches give or take a bit.

both the ones I made last night are about 15 inches long I will try to post a picture this evening

the important thing is to have fun

This is an AWESOME IDEA!!!

My favorite color is PINK! But, I wouldn't want it in that color.

The house that I am in is Gryffindor and my wand is (I made this up myself) is 14" long, made with Lacewood and one strand of silver wolf hair, one unicorn hair. Truely unique!

We should post up our wands! That way, someone can get a lot of info from it! www.thewandshop.com has a lot of cool stuff on it!

I would like the bark removed to make it nice and smooth. And a perfectly striaght one would be awesome, but not nesscessary! My personality is fiery, passonaite, etc. I'm the natural leader. Um...I think that's it.

I would like my wand to be 18 inches, and fairly straight.. or with a soft curve. I would prefer the bark to be off of all but the handle.
I want the rest of it nice and smooth.. except for possibly some tribal-style burnings (if you know how) or dark painted carvings (dark brown, black, silver).. The end of the wand would have a crystal in it (not round, but oblong). My crystal would be clear quartz, smoky quartz, or rose quartz. My wand would have leather sheathings hanging from the center or top third of the wand with matching feathers hanging from it (please.. natural colored ones.. no plastic dyes).

I am also going to hang it on my wall, but would like it to be durable enough for ceremonial use.

Blessed Be!

Thank you.

Just a reminder when you rate your partner please remember that the wand discriptions in the comments sections are ideas to help your partner but the wand you receive may or may not fit your discription as long as it is nice and you can tell your partner put some time into it please give them a 5 a heart if they tried to match your discription thanks carolyn h

I would like a wand somewhere in the size limits.... no preference. I like prefer metallic colors except for orange and pink. I don't really like the completely straight dowel looking ones from Harry Potter. I like unique! I'm leaving mine pretty open as far as everything else.... things hanging off it, crystal in handle, bark removed, not removed, wire, feathers, beads, all up to my creators whims! I will be displaying this also, like others above, so please keep that in mind.

That's it! Can't wait to see which one I get to make!

I like natural wood (as opposed to painted). Shiney wood (no bark). I love nature so any nature inspired carvings are welcome like plants, leaves, water... A stone on the end would be good, like obsidian or lapis or quartz. If you want to put any embellishments on it, I would prefer silver.

so excited to make one, must start practicing... :-)

This sounds like so much fun! I'm a newbie, but I'm NOT a flake, and I swear to make my swap partner a very nice wand, so I hope you will allow me to take part :-)

As for me, I love crystals and I'm pagan, but I have no doubt I would love anything that was sent to me....I love creativity!

OOOO I just found the most AWESOME resource for this swap. As I was looking to see the best way to clean the wood I found for my partner's wand, I found this document on the internet:

http://reviews.ebay.com/Driftwood-for-Arts-and-Crafts-Finding-Process_W0QQugidZ10000000002172523

You will find it is FULL of great advice for creating creations out of wood, such as a wand! Enjoy!

I also have another suggestion - it's sort of touched on in the above pages - certainly you don't HAVE to do this, but it would be a cool touch - to send along a "certificate of authenticity", just a piece of paper with your signature stating when and where it was made (you can make it as "official" looking as you like! Think gold stars! LOL). I know several of us are planning on displaying our wands, and that would be a cool "extra" :-)

It says I sent mine off, but I haven't yet! I will post here when I get it mailed. Sorry for the confusion!

cerwinrhiannon 09/18/2007 #

What are you guys shipping these in? It's going to be hard to find a box the right size and shape.

Liseanne27 09/21/2007 #

its a bit late to answer now, but I shipped mine in a mailing tube. It was so hard to find one though! And the one I found was so big. Oh well!
