Whale ATC Swap
Swap Coordinator:KristinaLynn (contact)
Swap categories: Artist Trading Card (ATC)
Number of people in swap:9
Location:International
Type:Type 3: Package or craft
Last day to signup/drop:May 16, 2010
Date items must be sent by:May 31, 2010
Number of swap partners:2
Description:

For this swap, you will make one standard size ATC (2.5 x 3.5 inches) for each of two partners. The card's main theme must be a whale or several whales. This swap is international.

Cards may be hand-drawn, painted, or collage and must be a firm backing. Please put some time and effort into your work! Make something beautiful that you would honored to receive.

Please, NO photo ATCs. The photographed image can be used in a collage... but there must also be other elements to the card besides the photo. My reasoning for this is that, while I respect photography as an art form, I am worried that this is a very easy way for people to 'beat the system' by cutting up any old photo (even one they didn't shoot).

This is sender's choice, so please feel free to start making your cards upon signing up, if you wish.

Please have a rating of 4.8 or higher and no recent 3's or 1's before signing up. Newbies, please have at least five rated MAIL swaps on your profile before signing up.

I will remove anyone from the swap that does not meet the above requirements before partners are assigned.

Please feel free to PM with questions or leave a note below.

Have a wonderful day!

I have Humpback Whale photos I photographed while on whale watching boats off of: Gloucester, MA, Icy Strait, Alaska & Maui, Hawaii and Orca Killer Whale photos while on a whale watching trip in Alaska, Can I use a whale photo for this Whale ATC swap?

Sunshine - I want to say yes. My ex is a photographer and he works hard to get nice photos! However, I'm worried that my opening it up to photographs will open the swap up to people doing things like cutting up someone else's photo and sticking it to cardboard and sending it out. Yay, they got their swap done in five minutes, with almost no work at all... while everyone else drew something or did a collage, etc.

So, while I respect photography as an art form, I'd rather not have to try and police the people who are going to see it as an easy way to 'beat the system' and get some nice cards.

I'm sorry - I mean no disrespect to you at all.

And if after that, it wasn't clear - please no photo ATCs. The photographed image can be used in a collage... but there must also be other elements to the card besides the photo.

ok, you're my partner for Cute Cupcakes and I did not use a photo since I had an embossed template of a cupcake that I could decorate but have no Whale items (no die cuts, no clear stamps, etc.) besides photos, guess I'll go eat my Cute Cupcake ATC (heehee)

~laughs~ You can use whatever you wish for that swap... I don't think it had the same no photo rule. I'm not against getting photo ATCs - I have a few really gorgeous ones.... I just worry that it would be taken advantage of. I've gotten a few very sad ATCs from swaps that had few or no rules.

Trust me, I feel bad for singling anyone out... I can't please everyone though, unfortunately.
