Writing Prompt - First Line

Pick a published poem by a published author (not you) and use a line from the poem as the first line of your poem. You can use any line or more than one line from the original poem. Use the lines as a jumping off point and inspiration for your piece. If you prefer, you may write a piece of short prose instead of a poem.

Send to your partners both the original poem and your writing. The pieces can be handwritten or typed, but must be sent through the mail, not email.
