Description:

This will be a much more intensive journal swap then most, so please read everything before joining. If you do not meet the requirements of the swap, it is not my job to PM you and ask why you signed up... I will simply ban you. If you are a long time swapper and somehow don't meet the requirements but you think I would probably let you join, then PM me please :) Thank you.

This swap is regional (US only). I apologize, as shipping will most likely be expensive and I am suggesting that everyone get delivery confirmation.

The requirements to join are:

  1. At least a 4.9 rating
  2. A member for at least 4 months
  3. Been rated a 5 for at least one journal swap (this is not meant for a newbie journaler).
  4. Been rated for at least 20 type 3 PACKAGE swaps.
  5. Have no 1 ratings.
  6. Have no 3's ratings in the past 6 months unless there is a clear explanation provided on your profile.

If you appear to have a lot of dissatisfied swap partners, please don't sign up...

VERY VERY few exceptions will be made.... This will be very time intensive and angeling would be a real pain in the neck! :)

OK, now for the good part :)

This swap is for a special journal... A Book of Treasures... The book itself should be at least 8 inches x 8 inches. (doesn't mean it has to be square) You can store buy or handmake it. The outside should look very special... like something you would see and be dying to open :)

The journal will have a minimum of 20 pages with treasures (you can include more pages and/or treasures if you want).

You can attach the treasures into the book however you see fit... pockets, envelopes, fold-outs, tied in, etc. At least 15 of the treasures have to be removable items. The other 5 CAN be (but don't HAVE to be) permanently part of the book, like pop-ups, fold-outs, spinners, etc.

The pages of the journal should be decorated and fun/beautiful/interesting to look at... You aren't just glueing a bunch of envelopes in a blank book and filling them!

What IS a treasure, you ask? A treasure is any little surprise that you can somehow manage to stick into the book- tags, recipes, letter sets, notecards, postcards, bookmarks, cds, dvds, atcs, picture frames, zentangles, envies full of supplies (like ribbons, eyelets, beads, atc blanks, etc), coupons for something free, patterned paper.

You should try to include a variety of things! Everything is sender's choice, but if you are stumped for ideas, look at your partners profile.

Please send on time! Rate promptly! And rate fairly!!!!

Oh yeah and thanks to my co-host (haha) @LadyStephanie who helped formulate this swap :)

I'm so happy to see this swap..! In Oct of 2009.. I was in the Swap, "Journal Me This" and loved it.. We included little items and had sooooo much fun with the swap.. I've already started collected my treasures..

Sounds like fun but how do I know if I've been rated in "type 3 swaps".... or even enough of them for that matter of fact?

Rubyfreckles 03/11/2010 #

Occasion- you would have to look at your ratings... a type 3 swap is a package swap... anything not flat mail... Swaps list the type right on them... (scroll up and you can see where this one says Type 3. (at the very top in the bolded stuff)

wow sounds like an awesome swap and I am sooo in. I am thinking of all the treasures I can include, You know all that stash we always hang on too for something really special. wooo hooo.

Rubyfreckles 03/12/2010 #

PS. I wanted to add that I will be checking profiles the weekend I can assign partners... I will be saving messages and looking through everyone at once :)

occasiongb6557 03/12/2010 #

Sounds like so much fun but I am pretty sure I dont qualify and I am not seeing the rating thing on my profile like you said. Do I open each individual swap I think may qualify that Ive done to find it?

Rubyfreckles 03/14/2010 #

I just want to re-iterate... to anyone PMing me about joining... I will be looking into everyone the weekend I can assign partners... so I will be saving everyone's info. If you NEED to know ahead of time whether you can join or not, then please make note of that in your PM to me... otherwise, I would rather just reviews everyones info. at once :)

Rubyfreckles 03/17/2010 #

Someone PM'ed me asking if the journal HAS to be blank, but I just wanted to clarify... this is NOT a journal for someone else to write in... you aren't decorating a journal for them to use... you are sending a DECORATED book full of little pull out goodies.

wickedred 03/23/2010 #

oh thank god i was wondering how to make it so it could be used as a journal i aldrady started doing mine collecting all sorts of things

Goldilocks 03/24/2010 #

I hope you do something like this again. I am not qualified and would love to join this swap. Although I am new to SB, journal making is my specialty. This is still so frustrating. Maybe by the deadline, I will be "almost" eligible - not 4 months though. I'm gonna make one anyway.

StarryNights 04/14/2010 #

I'm still confused. Do we decorate the 20 pages as well as adding the pockets, envelopes, etc to the page?

LadyStephanie 04/17/2010 #

Yes @StarryNights The pages are to look great and have little pocketfuls of treasures/goodies/gifts for your partner. Pockets, sleeves, attached envies, items tied to the page.

As for decorating the pages, they can be scrapbookish looking or hand decorated....just make it special! One more day till partners can be assigned. I'm so excited!

grandmaroro 04/17/2010 #

I would love to be a part of this swap, but I am working on two composition book journals now and I dare not take on another. Please, please, please do this again.

Rubyfreckles 04/19/2010 #

OK, I ended up allowing everyone into this swap...pleaaaaaaaaase no flaking. There were a couple people who were a tad bit short on the requirements... that I ended up allowing in... If anyone has/foresees ANY problems, PLEASE contact me right away!

LadyStephanie 04/20/2010 #

Thank you so much for hosting this, Ruby!

druideye 04/21/2010 #

I've been working on mine all night, and it's been a lot of fun. Thanks @rubyfreckles for a great swap! I'm doing it a bit different - it's not really a journal - so I really hope my partner likes it. I used an old children's book as the base for it that has amazing artwork inside that I've also added my own decorations as well as the envies and such to it.

maryhassound 04/22/2010 #

@druideye , i'm your partner and i'm gonna love it. :) !!

druideye 04/23/2010 #

Yay! @maryhassound I'll wait until you get it to post pictures in my craft blog.

pandessa 04/26/2010 #

Mine is done with exception of decorating the cover!

wickedred 05/13/2010 #

I want you all to know Pandessa made the most wonderful book for me I LOVE IT.
