Don't go 'round artless!

If you are addicted to the art-o-mat and lucky enough to have access to one here is your chance to swap with other addicts! www.artomat.org

We will each have two partners and will send one(1) art-o-mat piece to each. Since there are machines in Quebec and Austria this is international. Like the machines though I suspect most participants will be US based.

Do look at your partner's profile for ideas about what they might like. You can put a note in your profile sharing preferences if you like but understand that even with such info. you never really know what's available at a given machine or what will fall when you pull that knob!

If you get a new, unopened piece and it's sent on time your partner has fulfilled their responsibilities. Please rate accordingly. (Please do not send pieces that have been opened or are missing their wrapping.)

Please don't sign up unless you will follow through. Please have an immaculate record and a minimum of 5 rated package (type 3) swaps. No flakiness because it just isn't fun for anyone. I will check profiles before assigning partners. Just PM with any questions.

Wow, how very cool. I had never heard of this. There are no machines near me, of course. Would love to receive a piece if someone wants to do a private trade or a RAK. Thank you.

For those that don't have a machine nearby -- I plan to do a subsequent swap in which we make our own art-o-mat pieces according to their guidelines.

I love the art-o-mat concept! I'll join if you create a swap for which we make the art. So cool.

I agree with ArtfulDogger... There's a template on their website on how to make the boxes. It would be a good spin on the matchbox swaps, but instead it would be handmade art-o-mats with your own artwork in it!!

Wow I wish we had one of these. I'm not even near any of them. What a cool opportunity for artists!

Im headed to downtown Indianapolis this Friday. I dont know if I will have time to find the museum that the Art o Mat machine is in. But if I do... count me in!

How cool is that!!! Art-O-Mat!! I found out there is one not too far away from Dallas. I will try my best to get to over there and use the machine.

Wish, wish, wish I did have access to one, as they seem like the ultimate in coolness.

So glad there is some excitement for the swap!
And yes, I will be posting a DIY Art-o-mat swap when this is finished for those without a machine.

Wow! This is really, really, really cool! I wish I had one of these machines near me. I'll be looking on for the DIY one!

I think that machine is great, but there isn't one where I live. They sell the materials so I could make my own. Hopefully someone will organize a swap for art pieces made by ourselves.

I found there is a machine near where I live, my question is how much is it to buy a piece from the machine?

wolfeagle 03/18/2010 #

I sell paintings and jewelry through art-o-mat, and also know other art-0-mat artists. They usually cost $5 per piece of artwork. I have some of mine ready to go for the next stock that I would be happy to trade with people and a local machine where I can go and get something for those who do not have access to a machine. They are great and its always a surprise on what you will get.

Most of the machines charge $5 per piece but I've encountered one- at the Whitney Museum in NYC-that was slightly more expensive.
