Description:

I recently got into this and found it so much fun I wanted to share my work and see others.

We are going to make Zentangles for each other. If you don't know what they are you can look up the definition here on swap bot under the help section. How to start one you ask? Here is a link to a you tube video to help you start. It helped me a lot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hscfey5N-pY

To start there will be 1 Zentangle each for 2 partners. The zentangle is to be drawn on card stock (it's more sturdy) and I recommend gel pens to draw with. The card stock can be any colour you wish but I do recommend a lighter colour as you need the ink to show up well. The size of the card should be between 3.5x3.5 and 5x5. Any combo between the two is fine. It can be a rectangle or circle or any shape you really desire. As long as it's within the sizes. No ATC sizing please. There will soon be a separate swap for that.

This is a sender's choice sort of swap. It's your design and imagination although it's nice to check out the profile of your partners to find out if there is a colour they detest (or absolutely love) so you know they will like it. Remember this when rating your partner that it's their imagination that creates this and to rate accordingly.

Newbies are welcome to join as it's a fairly easy swap. No recent 1's. Any recent 3's please message and explain.

There will be, I hope, no reason to do this but I can Angel anyone who doesn't receive. ( I really love making these lol).

I think you will get more swappers if you change the size to an ATC

Passion 03/ 5/2010 #

Agreed. I'd join

daydreamer2 03/ 5/2010 #

I'd join too if it was ATC size

Mareree10 03/ 5/2010 #

Yes 4 by 4 is too big.

DigitalMisfit 03/ 5/2010 #

I would also be interested if it was ATC

CroLaneyL 03/ 5/2010 #

I think the 4x4 is a good size, gives you more room and I'm currently working on 6x8 size ones and think their alot of fun =)

SunArtist 03/ 5/2010 #

4x4 is ok by me

Aayla 03/ 6/2010 #

Now here I was thinking 4x4 might be too small. lol For now I'm going to keep the sizing as is. Maybe I will do another swap ATC size. For me I find that size limiting but then that would be a challenge for me to overcome as this can be a challenge to get those creative juices flowing and design on a bigger form. I do home you all still join.

Aayla 03/ 6/2010 #

er hope. lol

allmylove 03/ 6/2010 #

4x4 is kind of a strange size actually. Traditional zentangles are actually 3.5x3.5...

Aayla 03/ 6/2010 #

3.5x3.5 would be fine. Of all the websites I have visited I have yet to find any rules for Zentangle. One wanted to sell a kit for it but that's it. I based the 4x4 on the piece of scrapbooking paper I did my first one on. I found that was a good size.

SuzeesCrafty 03/ 6/2010 #

4x4 isn't too big....I'm currently designing a tote bag ( approx 13"x 13")with all Zentangle designs. I will than have a ATC contest and the winner will win the tote bag. But for now...I'll sign up for this Swap.

This will be my first attempt at Zentangles!! Is it the same as "Zendoodle"? Partners, please let me know if I don't do it right & I'll send another :) It looks so fun!

Bucket 03/ 8/2010 #

As it says above that it should be "roughly 4x4" would it be okay to do 3.5x3.5 or 5x5 or even ATC size (as you mention rectangles and circles)? It seems to me that the swap specifications allow for a variety of sizes, right?

Aayla 03/ 9/2010 #

ilovemail: yes it's the same as a Zendoodle as Zentangle is actually just a trademarked name (I only just found out).

Bucket: I wanted 4x4 as I wanted a decent size to show the artwork. I would say that 3.5x3.5 is the smallest to go and 5x5 would be the biggest. The variations can be between them as I didn't want to limit it to just a square (eg: 3.5x5). I have been thinking of doing another one specifically for ATC and one for the more adventerous and going bigger.

Kimminita 03/ 9/2010 #

The bigger the better! Lot's of zentangling to do on a bigger sized paper. Good choice to keep the size!

Bucket 03/ 9/2010 #

Awesome Aayla - thanks for clarifying! I plan to join and stick with good old 4x4.

Aayla 03/13/2010 #

Partner's have been assigned! (sorry for being a tad late). Happy swapping!
