Description:

This is an easy swap. You will have two partners. You will send each partner, one book or one magazine. Senders choice.
You can always choose to send more. They can be used items in good condition. If you send a magazine it should be an Arts/Craft/trade type magazine. For instance, my Art Doll magazines cost about $15 each. There are also stamping magazine, quilting, polymer clay, mixed media, beading, art, dolls, etc that are all wonderful and would make great swaps. This is not for a fashion or pop culture type magazine.
Everyone is welcome with filled out Profile and no recent no sends. USA and Canada

So, the idea is to get a value of about $15?

lilkye 02/19/2010 #

no, you can't really do that with a book, unless it's a brand new large and popular hardcover, or the like.

I think they were just illustrating that craft/art/trade mags tend to have a higher value, as opposed to pop and culture mags, that tend to not only be "read once and toss" types, but be worth less too.

It was an example...

wolfeagle 02/19/2010 #

Yes, it was an example. Any book is fine as long as it is in good condition. Magazines, also need to be in good condition plus be an arts/crafts/trade type of magazine. There is not a monetary value designated. Thanks for asking.

candigirl 02/19/2010 #

what about a cooking magazine? I don't know if that would be considered acceptable..I personally think of cooking as an artistic/crafy type of activity..

wolfeagle 02/19/2010 #

@candigirl Especially if your partner likes to cook, I think there are many people who would enjoy a cooking magazine if it is a good quality magazine.

If anyone has ART Jewelry Magazine-November 2008, I would love to private swap with you.

SherriB 03/10/2010 #

If anyone has Somerset Studio's True Colors magazine, I would love to private swap with you!

Coco26 03/10/2010 #

My only "problem", I guess with this swap is a fear of getting a magazine I already own. I have a LOT of the somerset studio magazines, not nearly as many as I would like tho! :) So, if someone gets me for a partner, and wants to swap a somerset studio, I wouldn't be opposed to a private message asking which ones I own. If anyone wants to swap a somerset studio, I'd also be open to private swaps!

I feel the same as Coco26 above. I have a ton of craft magazines (but I always want more :) ; I'll be have to message my partner to see what they prefer & it would be great if my partner did the same. (I know its a sender's choice swap, but no one wants to get what they already have.) Thanks!

I am looking for a back issue of Romantic Country Kitchens magazine Juy 2009. I know it is not a craft magazine, but if anyone has one, I would be interested in it for a swap.

wolfeagle 03/13/2010 #

Magazines should be high quality art, craft or trade magazines-these usually have a higher price associated with them Any, good condition, book is acceptable for this swap.

Would this qualify for the media mail postage? I've never used that before and I think it was if you're mailing books, right? Thanks for any help!

Swan 03/15/2010 #

According to the USPS website (always a good source for such questions) http://usps.com...

Media Mail:

The service for printed and recorded material.

  • For sending small and large packages consisting of books, film, manuscripts, sound recordings, video tapes, and computer readable media (such as CDs, DVDs, and diskettes).
  • Prices based on weight.
  • Up to 70 pounds
  • No more than 108 inches in combined length and girth.Learn about combined length and girth in a new window
  • Cannot contain advertising.

So that means it's not for most magazines, since they contain lots of advertising. (One ad in the back of a book advertising another book by the same publisher or something similar doesn't count, so don't worry about something like that.)

Thanks Swan :)
