Description:

The Unites States Post Office charges 44-cents to deliver an oversized postcard up to 6 1/8 inches by 11 1/2 inches and up to 1/4 inch thick.

Let's make a big postcard with space enough for a long letter. The best of both worlds!

You should make one BIG postcard, as big as you can manage up to the max size described above. Make it out of any material you desire, within the max dimensions and be sure that it's something you can write on. I'm thinking cardstock or a chunk of an old cereal box, but feel free to be creative. The back of the card should not be decorated and should include a letter to your partner. Feel free to decorate the address side of the card, or not, as you see fit. Maybe you can put some more of your thoughts in that space.

The point of this swap is to have the ease of sending a postcard, but with plenty of room to write something significant. In order to focus on writing a quality letter, you will be paired with ONE partner for this swap.

What will you say with all this space? That's up to you! Try not to be obviously offensive. But please feel free to express yourself and even be controversial. The faint of heart and the easily offended should apply with caution.

  • Got a beef with your local politicians - what are they doing wrong? Or are you gifted with a really good one and what are they doing right?
  • Do you still yearn for a long lost love? Tell the heartbreaking story!
  • Passionate about an obscure hobby? Recruit a new fan!
  • Confused about where your life is going? Write out your questions and fears.
  • Are you haunted by a long past schoolyard incident? Were you the perpetrator or the recipient? Talk it out!
  • Feel like pleasing your partner? Check out their profile and tailor your letter to their interests, or ask them questions about something in their profile which intrigues you.
  • What's your biggest fear? Aging? Losing your job? Spiders? How do you deal with it?
  • Love to read or see movies? Write a review or pass along a list of your favorites. Don't be superficial - really try to tell your partner what it is about your favs that appeals to you more deeply than other things.
  • How do you see your politics or beliefs changing as you age and (hopefully) mature?
  • How do you feel about the amazing advances in medicine? Are they a relief to you, or do they just open the door to new worries about your health and health care?

Disclaimer: this is my first swap. Please be kind. I will try my best to make it successful, but if something goes wrong the most you have to lose is a smidgen of cardstock and 44 cents. This swap is limited to the USA since I can verify the postal regulations for postcards and the mailing expense. I have no idea what the postal requirements would be elsewhere. Newbies welcome. I will review the list of swappers before assigning partners and reserve the right to ban sinister seeming characters, but there are no guarantees that a deadbeat or two won't slip thru.
