I read Oprah's book club selections. She selected Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, but you can select any book that interests you.

Read the book and send a book report to your partner.

It can be just a quick note/letter saying why you liked or didn't like the book. It could even be your excuse for not reading the book. :) If you want you could also make a bookmark, ATC, etc. But this is not required. Write a letter with your excuse if you couldn't read the book.

This is a suggested reading schedule for the book I have borrowed from Oprah's website. link to Oprah
Summer Reading Calendar
Book 1 June 5- June 24
Book 2 June 25-July 15
Book 3 July 16-August 12
Book 4 Aug 13-Sept 2

Send letter(Book Report) by September 4th. This will give you all summer to read.

Middlesex has been sitting in my to read pile for way too long. Hopefully, this will make me read it.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I didn't know it was the new Oprah selection! I read it about 3 or years ago, and it is so good!

KnittingCateling 06/ 7/2007 #

I have 3 books I aim to read this summer, and one of them is Harry Potter, so that ought to count for 2! :) Thanks for opening up this swap to readers of all books.

I'm glad you changed it off Middlesex (as I have no desire to ever read that book haha)... there should be more than 1 partner, but that's my opinion. :)

PandaGirl: I don't understand the part about the calendar. Is this swap for one book, "Middlesex," or for four?

I bought "Middlesex" over the weekend and started it. It's a compelling read so far.

pandagirl 06/11/2007 #

The book or at least my book is broken up into 4 sections. I took the calendar from Oprah's website. I didn't include the page numbers because if you have a different version the page numbers could be different.

Artistic 06/11/2007 #

Ah, I understand now. I'm signing up. :)

KnittingCateling 06/13/2007 #

Thank you for clarifying the calendar bit. And thanks for the advance mail!

Hi Marie: Thanks so much for the note and info you sent on the book!

tamipal6 06/16/2007 #

Ah ha! Here is the swap I was looking for! Thanks for hosting this! :)

tamipal6 06/16/2007 #

I'm not planning to read Middlesex, but I have a few other books sitting here that I want to read. :)

tamipal6 06/20/2007 #

oops! Meant to click that I sent my items for the swap that was above this one on my list! Sorry for the confusion while I try to figure out if I can undo that. It's the first time I've done that.

CandyStar 06/21/2007 #

Yeah, I'm reading a different book, too. I'm thinking about reading Life of Pi for mine... since I wanted it to be something intelligent-sounding since everyone is reading Middlesex, hahaha. I don't want my book to seem lame compared to everyone else's.

I might end up reading Chocolat, though. :)

Well, I could't figure out how to unclick "sent." If anyone know, please let me know what I should do, okay?

CandyStar 06/27/2007 #

I decided to read the Memory Keeper's Daughter... yay! ^.^ I'm excited about this swap. :D

I just put my book report in the mail to Candy Star. I'd read Middlesex before (and enjoyed it very much), so I chose a different book for this swap: The Invention of Hugo Cabret, by Brian Selznick--supposedly a "children's book," but a really great and fun read (which I highly recommend for children and adults alike)! Thanks for hosting this swap, pandagirl!

pandagirl 07/31/2007 #

I am still reading Middlesex. I took time out to read Harry Potter. I reread books 5 before I went to the movie. Then I reread 6 before 7 came out. And of course I read 7. Now I need to get back to Middlesex.

Artistic 09/ 2/2007 #

A book report will be winging its way to my partner Tuesday a.m. I'm dropping it in a mailbox today.

pandagirl 09/ 9/2007 #

I sent emails to everyone concerning status of their swap. I also sent everyone my book report.

Overall I enjoyed Middlesex. The more I think about it the more I appreciate the overall story.
