Movie Swap!

Awesome! I'm in!

Oohh... this sounds interesting! Just a movie? Hmm... well since it's just one partner and one movie, that means a tough choice! This could really be a lot of fun!

Dumb question is nobody minds: What is an "A" rating? Of course I'm familiar with "PG", "PG-13", "R", "G", but I'll admit to not being familiar with "A". Given the context, I take it that means something "family friendly"? Just double-checking so that when I get my partner and make my selection it will e appropriate and (hopefully) genuinely enjoyable.

For me personally, I"m okay with anything rated "R" or better if the "R" movie is a good one (you be the judge, of course) storywise and not rated as such simply to be loaded upon loaded with excessively graphic content. But beyond that, I'm a big girl (39), and I'm not easily offended, though I do believe in resepectfulness. (I think you get the idea, right?) :-) As long as YOU my partner feel it's a decent movie and worth watching, I'm sure I'll be mroe than pleased. :-)

And a note to whomever I'll send to, I believe firmly in reciprocating the same respect to you that I'm sure my partner sending to me will show to me. I want you to be able to enjoy what I choose and be able to feel respected by me. (And don't worry, I don't have even a single "nasty movie" in my collection, so even if you wanted one of those kinds of DVDs, I'm sorry, but I don't have any to offer.)

Does this post qualify me for signing up here? I agree with all the terms of the swap and will have loads of fun seeing how it turns out. :-) Great swap idea, btw. :-)

ViveItalia thanks for signing up for the swap and I am glad that you like the idea! As for the "A" rating, I guess I am a little outdated and the new rating is "PG-13" growing up in Canada we had the "A" rating, which means adult accompaniment. I will edit it to read "PG-13".

As for the "Nasty" movies, I do not own any either, BUT I put that as a just in case, cause heck, you never know!

I'm absolutely fine with any rating, and with classic films that don't have ratings. Especially if they're obscure or strange somehow.

I love R moves ( you know Horror only not nasty adult movies lol ) But I am fine with PG and PG-13 also

I got really excited when I saw this swap, because I love movies of all ratings and genres. I have an interesting collection of films and look forward to sharing with my partner.

For whoever ends up drawing me as their giftee, 'R' ratings are OK with me. My taste in films is very broad and I like lesser-known human interest stories as much as blockbusters. I will accept foreign films as well.

I hosted a swap like this, and it was really fun, so I thought I'd sign up for this one as well. I'm glad I got in on time before the signup date passed. As for what types of movies and ratings I prefer... Any ratings are fine, but I esp. love horror, comedy, thrillers and independant movies (like Sundance film festival ones). I DO NOT enjoy romantic comedies or foreign films. Thanks to my partner in advance!

Remember, though, that this is a 'you get what you get' swap, so no fair rating a "3" if by some chance you get a romantic comedy! :) (Not from me, but maybe that's all that someone else has. You never know).

Can we put up a small list of potential movies or genre's we would like to have? I have recently started buying the previously viewed DVD's because @ 4 for $20 or 3 for $20 they cost the same as renting, so I'd really like to be able to send something I know my partner would like if being given some options is allowed.

Not to worry, I understand I will get whatever my partner is willing to part with out of their collection, and I will give a fair rating whether it's one I like or not. I'm sorry if stating I don't like romantic comedies or foreign films seems a little too discriminating or picky, but I wanted to state my preferences on the off chance my partner has the perfect movie for me. If they don't, don't worry. I'm really not that picky, and I always enjoy a surprise! Thanks again.

Haha Sheri, you could go into your profile and say which movies you realllly want ;) or that are on your "to buy" list. I wish everyone could do that cause i sure don't want anyone to be disappointed with my swap - even though they probably will be without some choices as a guide. :(

I have absolutely no problem with R-rated movies - they are the bulk of my collection - but don't worry, whoever I get, I can find something for you, be it Disney or John Waters! :oP

I agree!!!! I hope no one feels obligated to go out and buy a movie for their partner because they're afraid of the reaction if it's something they didn't specifically request!

The whole original point of 'swapping' included an element of surprise - let's not forget that! It's more than half the fun!

That being said, whoever has me, I shall not be disappointed with any movie, so long as it's not 'burned' or illegally copied! :)
