Part of the fun of Christmas stockings is that you never know what you will pull out next. Have you ever hidden a special gift for someone deep inside the toe of a Christmas stocking? It's so exciting to watch them pull out the candy and tiny trinkets when you know something precious is waiting at the bottom! You can't wait for them to dig down far enough the find the real treasure. So many of us have gratefully accepted Christ as Savior but have not taken our relationship with Him any deeper to find the rest of the treasure. We love Jesus, but as we meet the challenges of life, we stop searching for Him. We forget God has more to reveal to us. We are missing out on an important gift: we are missing more of Him. Salvation is only the beginning! God has so many more wonderful gifts to bestow on us if we are willing to keep digging to find more of Him. The writer of Hebrews said that we must come to God believing that He exists and that He has rewards for those who diligently seek Him. Through the inspired words in Scripture, God is encouraging us to dig for the deeper gifts of Christ--to continue to pray, study, and serve Him with all our hearts. This Christmas, let's ask Him to reveal to us the hidden treasures that we did not even realize were ours for the taking.
