SOHC: Mermaid Altered Art Doll

Do you love mermaids and dolls and artsy crafting? You will have one partner and you will create for her an altered mermaid art doll. There are images and descriptions of altered art dolls all over Pinterest, Google, Etsy, etc. My quick explanation is this: a piece of art that represents a mermaid (or merman), using one or more components of an existing doll, with the addition of found objects, crafting supplies, or bits of whatever your imagination comes up with. As an example, the mermaid you create might have a doll's head, a body made of a sardine can and a tail crafted from clay and painted. So basically, anything goes as long as you use something from an existing doll, in this case, the head.

If you already have a mermaid doll, you can use that but you need to alter it in some way that transforms it into a piece of art. I've seen altered Barbie dolls that were just awesome and well worthy of being called "art".

If the doll is not able to stand on it's own, then you need to fasten it to a base or make it into a hanging doll. In other words, it needs to be ready to display.

Please be generous when you rate your partner. We all have different skill levels. If your partner obviously created a mermaid and put some time and effort into making an object of art, then they deserve a top rating.
