Description:

Avalanche suggested a wonderful idea a few months back: "I thought it would be fun to have a digital art collage about our pet(s) ? With a little story about what they like and don't like :) ?"

Avalanche, I hope it's okay if I take this idea and run with it!

Each person will create 1 pet collage and story (photos separate from story) or scrapbook (photos and story integrated) and send 1 copy to each of 3 partners. Since we're working with digital art, let's take advantage of the ability to replicate easily! Format and content are artist's choice.

1 - Any "pet" is okay: dogs, cats, llamas, tarantulas, goldfish, the spider that lives in your kitchen cabinet that only has 1 leg and always goes around in circles... (no kidding. I had one of those for a while! Poor thing. I always wondered how he lost 7 legs .. and survived! He lived in my cabinet until his other legs grew back. Then he went OUTSIDE! (I hate spiders! ew.)) ... ... even your pet rock. Hey, the story and the illustrations are the amusing part! And if you can scrapbook your pet rock's likes and dislikes, more power to you!

1a - the pet may be current or previous, living or departed.

2 - Let's keep this swap lighthearted and fun.

3 - put some effort into it! Swap something you're proud of and would be happy to receive.

4 - digital photography is part of the world of "digital art". But please do something more than just slap some pictures down on a page! If you have photo editing software, try playing with adding some frames, cropping, etc. .. or let us know what settings you used with your camera to obtain your fabulous results!

Beginning digital artists are welcome. So are International.

Do we email or snail mail the final copy (i.e. email a .pdf file)? This sounds like a lot of fun, thanks!

I'm open to discussion on the topic. I was thinking snail-mail... but I'd like to hear people's opinions on the .pdf or .jpg concept before I make a decision...

Okay.. I've heard from a couple of people on the subject of email vs snail mail and I've made my decision:

For this swap, please create your "scrapbook" / "collage" as a real, tangible artwork sent through the postal system. :) There is just something so very special about finding a handmade treasure in amongst your bills! Especially these days.

NOT an e-mail swap this time. Thank you!

Your one legged spider story is hilarious! So glad it had a happy ending :o)

Just the three of us having fun with this one, so we each get to receive from everyone! :) Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!!
