Description:

AlisaMitchum's post for non-believers gave me an idea for a swap as well.

Her swap states "the point of this swap is to make two atc's that explain why you are an atheist, or at least question the existence of gods and religion."

I thought it would be nice for believers to make a set of cards as well to state or show your belief. These cards can be a reminder for us to try to make an effort each day to show others the love and compassion that we are supposed to give and also for personal inspiration when we need it.

You are going to make one card for three people.

Perhaps some day we can trade our cards with the non-believer group in an effort to reach out with compassion and to say we're not all judgmental people who desire their condemnation.

Good for you and kudos for the entire thought process. No religion has the right to condemn another person whether they believe differently or believe not at all. Faith means not only respect and love for a Higher Power but respect and love for all living things. Only by having dialogues with people who believe differently will we ever find peace. The non-believers are no less people than the believers - believers do not have a "special edge" non believers don't. We are all here on the same planet, breathing the same air, and here to help one another.

I commend you for your courage and am proud to be part of this - I will be first in line when we can do a swap between the two groups!!

Do you have to be a believer of any particular faith? I'm not a Christian, but would still love to participate in this swap. LMK

I left that part open to interpretation. I would be happy to have you join us. :)

Thank you! I am glad you are doing one for us. I like the idea of a joint swap, too. I'm in.

I am glad you are having this swap idea. Tolerance is key here and no matter what a person thinks we should all treat each other with respect and tolerance.

I feel condemned on both fronts kind of as I was raised in a Godless home, later labeled "agnostic" and lastly when a teenager, my parents proclaimed their atheisn. I then moved into a 'belief in some higher power' (a vague notion), then believed in God, and now new to what some call being a "Christian" or a "Christ-follower". Although my father always said he didn't baptize me as he'd let me make my own choices in what to believe or practice when I was an independent thinking adult, he now openly criticizes me for even believing in a general notion of God.

So, most times I feel accepted by no one (except God). Back when I was an atheist I was very tolerant of everyone else yet here in 2007 I feel there is a lot of negativity all over the place and I feel it a lot from non-believers to believers which surprises me as I was never exposed to that as a child or a teenager by my own family.

I'd love to participate in this, but unfortunately I'll be out of town when both sign closes up and the send date are :) Hope you run another one at some point!

ChristineMM, I think you'll find more and more conflict as your faith grows. If you need a prayer partner or someone to talk to about what you're experiencing, feel free to give me a shout.

I can't resist this swap! It sounds fun!

I am making my ATC's today. I also would like to say that I have enjoyed the comments left here by others. It is something that we take for granted (our freedom of religion)and it needs to be utilized. Thanks for hosting this swap, and I do hope you host more in the future like this..

I made my ATCs the other day and so they are flying off today to Kandm17, Beawhiz and Tamipal6. I hope you enjoy them. Thanks again for hosting this swap, it was a fun process to find Bible quotes to use then to find an artistic way to display them on an ATC.

Beawhiz, Thank you for the ATC's I received today. You're right, they are simple, but you know the saying, sometimes less is more, and I really do like them! Thanks, Sandy

PeaceWitch has flaked on me for this swap. I see she now has a bunch of 1 ratings on her file. This swap today is still marked "not sent" by her. FYI.

ksj1717 05/29/2007 #

ChristineMM, Of course I will try to contact her. I'm sorry that you were flaked on and I will be happy to make up for her in this swap. You can see her remark in the first part of this thread. Let's hope that the cards she receives will mean something to her.
