what's a zine?? a magazine?

A zine is a small hand-made magazine or booklet that is photocopied or hand-made and either given away, traded, or sold for a small amount of money (to cover costs, rarely for profit). They can be comics, perzines (personal zines, such as diaries or personal stories), political, recipes, fanzines (zines about a band/artist/person made by fans) poetry, art, DIY/how-to (instructions), crafts... there are literally thousands of zines out there. I love them because they're not censored or full of adverts and some of them are very beautiful!

CD or tape, either works for me.

I prefer a CD (actually, I'm not sure I even have access to a tape player any more. madness).

I love most zines--I'm into vegan/vegetarian cooking/lifestyle, journalling, indie music and movies, learning about Buddhism and paganism, feminism...Just for some ideas. My profile can probably offer even more help.

I generally prefer not to receive food, just because I'm pretty picky about it. However, I'll never turn down an interesting new vegan treat!

I prefer a CD (and to be partnered with someone who does, because I can't make a mix tape...don't have access) and am into suprises in every sense of the word...suprise me with the zine! whatever you're into works!!! I love learning new things. as far as the suprises go...I'm into anime, kawaii, japanese things, momiji dolls...you get the idea.

Howdy. I am a fan of 90s alternative music (fave forever and a day will be the Smashing Pumpkins) and indie music (the "right this moment" fave is the Magnetic Fields). I am giving broad categories so that my partner can choose songs that make them happy and aren't too restrained. I'm a drummer (we're the epitome of garage rock), and I love music - so getting to listen to new songs is always fun. I don't mind if I get a CD or tape. A tape would be AMAZING as I haven't gotten one in a looooooooong time. But CDs are cool too. As far as the zine goes - I'd love something related to crafting, or being an indie scene kid, being political, music you enjoy -- anything quirky, odd, out there, and humorous. Nothing about being a vegan/vegetarian or religion (unless it's religious kitsch stuff). Have fun!

I prefer cd's. I used to prefer mixtapes when I used to have a tape player, but I no longer have one, so cd's it is. I can't wait to swap because I have tons of zines and music to share with someone!

I'm really into underground comics. My favorite zines are with comics or drawings on it. But I also like punk/alternative music, journalism, urban culture and art. I'm fine with a tape or a CD, but i REALLY want it with a properly D.I.Y. artwork. I'm into alternative, rock, punk. I would love to hear local underground bands. So if you have friends who play and you think its good, please send me. You can send me your own zine or buy it. Since I'm from far away - Brazil - I don't have a chance to check often good zines from europe, america or anywhere else. And if you have access to a good zine shop, please buy 2 more zines and send me as the other gifts! Otherwise, I really like buttons.

I prefer tapes but if CDs are easier for you to do that's fine too. I like all types of music except rap. And I love all zines but especially art/literature and perzines. :)

ohhhhh what the heck! I just have to sign up. I will have 2 weeks after vacation to get something going. count me in! I Love subversive 'zines and cassettes, but totally not opposed to cd's to throw on my ipod. I love most non-mainstream music, I especially love girl groups from the 50's-60's, rockabilly and punk. Anything loud and local would be super-appreciated.

I would love to join this swap, but I have no way to create or play a tape, a CD is no problem, but if I got a partner who wanted a tape I would not be able to fulfill...

Hello! I would like a CD. I don't have access to a tape player. As far as the zine goes...any topic will really suffice unless its something on my dislikes list. I would really like an arts/craft/creative zine, but I would like personal point of views, music, etc also. I am into alternative music as well as rock and indie pop.

Oooh sounds like fun (yet to find decent zines in London, so if someone can pm me with suggestions...) I love music, but lit-zines would be just as loved, angsty, poetry stuff mebbe.

Cassette prefered (genuine fear of the apple corporation taking over the world some day...).
