Description:

Let's swap Penny Pockets! Not sure what a penny pocket is? It's a small fabric pocket made of coordinating fabrics, which you can use as decoration or cute storage. Click here for examples and full instructions and pattern: http://thehappyzombie.com/blog/?p=304

You must use the given pattern for this swap!

Penny pockets are best made out of 100% cotton (quilting fabric). Heavy fabrics or very thin fabrics will not work on this project. Sewing machine is required.

I was recently in a vintage button swap on Swap-Bot, and made a penny pocket to hold the buttons. You can see it on my blog at: http://joanoh2.blogspot.com/2009/01/swapalicious-update.html.

You will have 1 partner, and make that partner 3 penny pockets in coordinating colors and prints. I suggest you review your partner's profile to see what colors, styles, etc. he/she likes. Embellish it, edge it with lace or ric rac, add a button, fill it with a little something-something to earn a star. Put a cord hanger from the top, if you like (makes it a bit more useful). Get creative!

This is my first time to host a swap on swap-bot, but I assure you I am swap-experienced!

Newbies are welcome. USA only. No participants with ratings that show you did not complete a swap.

How exciting to see sign-ups on my first swap! This will be a fun swap. If anyone is having difficulty finding the pattern on The Happy Zombie web site, you can print it directly from here:

Joan? When you say we make 3 pockets for our partner can they be the same fabric but mixed up to coordinate or do you want 3 completely different pockes with different fabrics? Thanks! Eddita :)

this sounds like a great swap. i would have loved to join but live in england, if you ever do an international one please let me know.

JoanOH 02/12/2009 #

I think the mixed up but coordinating is fine! If you do three different fabrics completely, they should at least coordinate as well.

That's what I needed to know...can't wait to get partnered up so I can see the colors they like....you know, my sewing machine is still set up on my dining room table...I wonder is hubby will notice if I leave it up a few days more...hmmmm sitting for meals is over-rated anyway LOL! - Eddita :)

OMG!!! I just tried this pattern and it us SUPER quick and SUPER cute!! The possibilities are endless...I've already made 10 and plan on making many more...no more paper gift bags for trinkets or small gifts...this fits the bill perfectly. Even if you don't participate in this swap, you just gotta try the pattern! Thanks so much for the pattern and this swap. :) Leona

These pockets are great! I whipped up two last night cause I just couldn't resist! Boy are they fast and easy and wonderful!!!! I can't wait to swap.

Here's a note for my partner- I LOVE things that seem mismatched and are bright. For example the pockets I made yesterday are a bright blue fabric with tiny squares, and a lime green striped fabric!

I also love brights and jewel tones too or large scale floral or novelties. :)

Count me in. I think they posted these on the moda bake shop blog too and I made some for Valentines Day. I love the idea for Xmas and other times too!

I missed this swap. Will you consider doing another sometime soon?

I'd be up for a round 2 also! My pockets will be headed out tomorrow! And I received my beautiful ones today.

Just want everyone who has NOT received their penny pockets to know that, as swap coordinator, I have emailed and messaged those who have not yet sent their pockets, to try to push them along to send them ASAP!
