Description:

For this swap, we will be following Dyan Reaveley’s video “Making a Patchwork Background” which can be found here

In her video, she is making a journal page, but we will be creating one ATC (2 ½” x 3 ½”) for one (1) partner.

You may start with a larger piece of paper to create the actual patchwork, but please do not start out with anything larger than ½ of a sheet of standard cardstock. If you use a larger sheet, you might end up with patchwork that is too large of a scale for an ATC.

Do not “black out” your mask until you have cut your paper to ATC size, if you are starting out with paper larger than ATC size.

Complete the steps up until the outlining of the mask after you have painted it; in other words, you do not have to outline your finished result or do anything in the video after that point. (Outlining the mask does have a nice effect though.)

You may further embellish your ATC in any manner that you wish.

(I will be posting a finished ATC on my Flickr page if you would like to see what one looks like. But beware! If you are my partner, this is probably the ATC that you are going to receive!)

Use any craft supplies that you have to complete this product. If you don’t have black paint, use another color to block out your mask. Use any medium you wish to color in your patchwork (inks, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, colored pencils, gel pen, marker…you get the point.)

A recap:

--1 ATC to 1 partner

--Start with ½ sheet of cardstock or smaller

--Use supplies you already have on hand (unless you needed a reason to go shopping…lol!!)

--Back your ATC with something sturdy; it shouldn’t easily bend when you are finished
