Description:

I love the quilt block swaps, but often when I am done with them I am left feeling like all I gained was a fun new UFO. So I'd love for this swap to be a bit different. Everyone will create three 10 1/2" (10" finished) quilt blocks of any style, technique, or pattern of your choosing to send to three different swap partners. Here is the catch - ALL the fabrics you use in your block must be a shade of BLUE. Any shade is fine, and the more shades of blue per block the merrier. If everyone who participates also makes a forth block for themselves, by the time the swap is completed we should be able to have a nice sized wall hanging each or even a baby sized quilt if you add a border or two! Take that, UFOs!

To participate, you must have a rating of 4.9 or better. If there are concerns about anyone who has signed up, please PM me.

You are certainly allowed to suggest your favorite colors of blue, themes you might like, etc in the comments section.

Please rate your partners when you receive your blocks. If they are blue, they meet the criteria.

Feel free to add extras to feel the love! (Hearts)

Oh, thank you, I just joined a Quilt Club, but missed out on their Round Robin. This will have to be my equivalent of it. Like the "winter blues" idea.

Great opportunity for us quilters to use up scraps!

Maybe you could do a few months of this cause I am not a wall hanging person , but would like a bigger quilt...also I am hosting animal quilt block #1 and they are 9 1/2 inch blocks and am going to continue it each month until people are tired of it...then you will have a nice quilt..not just a block.

Hello! I am super new to quilting, but would love to be a part of this, would anyone be super upset if they didn't get pro looking squares? Loving it, but still learning!

I also would like to repeat the blue block swap so we could have more blocks.

I'm just going to start with the first swap and see how it goes. I promise to do another if it isn't a total disaster and enough interest is there.

As far as "pro looking" blocks, my only requirement was that your swap rating be 4.9, not that you be a professional quilter. :) There are lots of simple blocks that could look really cool in all blues. As long as you feel confident enough to sew a straight seam and use blue exclusively, I personally don't have a problem with beginning quilters participating.

If there end up being only 8 of us in this swap, I wouldn't be opposed to sending a block to everyone else in the swap (7 total).

I'm happy to get random blocks in blue and have several projects I can use them for. However, I'll only want to continue with this swap long-term if we switch to using 100% quilters' quality cotton. I don't want to sew up a quilt using novelty fabrics. Just a personal choice, and I'm happy with the group going either way.

I am sorry, due to a bad head cold and masses of snow outside, I am only able to walk to the post office tomorrow morning. I hope you will like my blocks anyway.
