Description:

If you are like me and frequently wear lip balm, let´s swap and try some new flavors!

If you sign up, you will have 2 partners, and you will send two flavored lip balms (not gloss, not lipstick) to each partner.

Please read and abide by the following guidelines:

  • Balms should be untinted.

  • The balms you send do not need to be expensive, but the flavors should not be ultra-common. No Cherry Chapstick or strawberry balm, since those are sold everywhere—unless we´re talking about strawberry-basil, for example, or chocolate cherry tiramisu flavor. Strive to find some interesting, though not necessarily bizarre, flavors to send.

  • Make sure the two balms in each package are quite different in flavor type. (Don´t send two fruit flavors to the same person, for example.)

  • Flavors are sender´s choice, but do have a look at your partners’ profiles for any absolute hates or other restrictions. (Avoid sending bacon-flavored balm to a strict vegan, for example.) If you have a lot of food restrictions/dislikes/allergies, you might want to sit this swap out—or plan to regift whatever you receive and can’t use.

  • Balms should be brand new and unused, of course. It is not a requirement that each tube be factory sealed (since many times multipacks are sold which are factory sealed as a pack, but the individual tubes are not), but it should be immediately obvious that the product is new and untouched.

  • If you make your own balm or have access to an artisan product, feel free to send one homemade/artisan balm in each package; the other item should be factory-made.

  • Be a prompt, cheerful, generous sender and a grateful, gracious receiver. If you receive 2 new, different, flavored balms that were sent on time, rate a 5, regardless of whether or not you like the flavors.

You need an average rating of 4.9 to join, and you should have at least 10 type-3 swaps under your belt. No recent 1s or 3s. If your rating history or swap volume is slightly lower than that, p.m. me and we can talk.I reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason.

Where to find inexpensive, fun-flavored lip balms? I have had luck at closeout/overstock stores (such as Big Lots or Marshall’s), dollar stores, and the clearance sections of supermarkets or department stores. Let us all know about any other sources in the comments section.

I love the idea of this swap but I think it might be better to do it when most of the country has more winter type temps.

I agree, Zefaniya. Regardless of whether this one does well or not, I plan to host another in the fall. Personally, though, I use the stuff year-round; maybe some other people do, too. (Where I live—South Florida—there are never any winter-type temps. lol)

Oh no I meant because they could melt going to certain states. I'll keep my eyes peeled! :)

Where I live, the lip balm would melt in the mail.

Yeah, that's why I am doing it now and not in, say, in July. It's plenty warm where I am, too, but most of the country does not have hot weather yet—it's still snowing in the Midwest and Northeast! I grew up in Indiana, and the rule of thumb there was that you couldn't put any plants outside overnight until after Mother's Day (because there was still a chance of frost overnight). So I think we'll be good for this swap. Then I'll wait until late October or November to do the "cold weather" version (even though it won't be cold here then, either).
