Description:

It's hard to ignore the fact that the holidays produce a lot of trash. Wrapping paper, product packaging, paper plates, gift tags, tinsel, greeting cards, ribbon, festive napkins, confetti, balloons and candy wrappers abound. When the party's over, the average person will stuff his or her celebratory debris into boring, black garbage bags and kick it to the curb.

But we're not average people.

We're swappers!

Your challenge is to sift through the debris from whatever you celebrate in December, pick out the crap that appeals to you, and whip it into a piece of mail art. Think of it as the Project Runway unconventional-materials challenge of the postal world.

Swap Requirements:

  • Your creation must be visible to innocent bystanders as it makes its way from your home to your partner's mailbox;

  • Your mail art must mainly consist of trash you acquired through the process of celebrating something in December;

  • Your SB username, group name and swap title must be included on or with your swap.

Final Note:

As Tim Gunn would advise, don't overthink this challenge. You can make something as simple as a handmade PC or as complicated (and ridiculously expensive) as a decorated refrigerator box. It's up to you.

In case anyone is tempted, please don't incorporate disgusting trash into your design. No one wants to receive the tails from your shrimp cocktail or your Uncle Harvey's dirty tissue. We'll keep the biohazards to ourselves.

Above all . . . Happy Holidays!

Oh no. Not Harvey! Lol ;)

Reminds me of "Hair of the Dog that Bit You," left overs after Christmas & New Year's" celebrations.

I think I'm overthinking this, but would making a collage paper of tidbits and then turning that into an envie be appropriate? As Tim would say, I'll "make it work."

@ChrisAnne - That would be perfect!
