Description:

For this swap we will be making one of these mini books using any 12” x 12” piece of double sided Christmas paper. If possible, use a vintage style paper, but this is not required. Locate the video tutorial HERE OR HERE. The second version shows how to add a spine which would be a good idea to make the album more stable and to give it a more"finished" look.

ALSO: If you don't have double sided paper, go ahead and use the paper you have. Your pockets will just be white and you can add distressing with Distress Inks and other items to "jazz" them up to avoid leaving them left a totally, barren white.

I am also extending the sign up deadline to Nov. 20 to give everyone who may not be signed up because of one-sided paper or inability to access the link to the tutorial.

This little pocket mini album takes VERY LITTLE TIME to make!

This is a starting point from which you begin adding ribbons, limited stickers (2-3 max), distress inks on edges, journal cards, etc. YOU MUST USE 3 OR MORE AUTHENTIC TIM HOLTZ decorative additions or products . Be sure to leave space on pocket items for your partner to add photos and journal memories that will go with them, but make the album as pretty as you'd like to have it yourself. Give it the time and effort a caring partner gives to her sending partner's little album. Make it so pretty that you hate to part with it! :-) Think of this as a little Christmas memory book for your partner to complete with photos, journaling, etc.

This little pocket mini album takes VERY LITTLE TIME to make. I cannot emphasize this enough!

You must use at least 3 Tim Holtz products in addition to the 12" x 12" page of any holiday paper. That could be Distress ink on edges, metal ephemera, mini tags for journaling a memory, and mini-tags with space for a photo, etc.

The book will have 8 pockets which you will fill.

• One pocket must contain a note telling your partner about your favorite Christmas tradition and why it is so important to you. A quick sentence here is not sufficient; take some time to describe what you do, why, and what's most special to you in continuing this tradition. Let your love of this tradition show through in your note!

• The other 7 pockets can be filled with Christmas items as you wish: embellishments, stamped images, ribbons, lace, gift tags, buttons, ornaments, mini envelopes, stamped Christmas images, ATC-size background papers, little journaling cards, etc.

  • Be certain that the front cover is especially pretty and that it has some form of attachment and ribbon, yarn, baker's twine, etc. to create a secure means of closing up the album. Get ideas from the samples in the tutorial.

I don’t know why this stressed me! Did a trial run on just plain paper before using my TH paper. So easy!! I’ve already started mine!

Relax and enjoy making this little booklet; I think you will enjoy making it for your partner. Leave room on a few pockets and on tags and lightly decorated mini tags for your partner to add photos and a few journaling spaces. Think of it as a little booklet to remember one small, but special, holiday experience: an afternoon sledding with kids and warming up with hot chocolate and a read-aloud Christmas story; a cookie making afternoon and time for hot tea and a few of the cookies made; an afternoon wrapping gifts for family and friends; a few hours delivering gifts of home-baked cookies and candies for neighbors; an evening of kids assembling their own gingerbread houses; a special tradition for your family; an evening of decorating the tree together with no cell phones allowed-- :-) including mom or dad or both. My children really loved getting out to buy our tree, getting it up and decorated, and then having hot chocolate and donuts with lights out except for the tree and Christmas carols playing (donuts were a special and very rare treat for them). That would be a good evening to remember in a little booklet like the one we are making. My daughter (42) wants to put their tree up on Friday morning after Thanksgiving (we're celebrating our Christmas then as they'll be with hubby's family in December). Then she is planning a treat (probably donuts and tea) while we open our gifts; apparently she and her brother both really loved that family tradition--more than even I had realized. One of those evenings or Saturday afternoons would have been perfect to capture with a mini album like we are making here.

Put on some holiday carols; have a special cup of coffee, tea, of hot chocolate, while making a precious little memory booklet with pockets for photos and journaling. Heck, have a donut or two or a couple Christmas goodies with that hot drink and remember favorite Christmas experiences with your children or grandchildren or just you and your hubby.

If ANYONE needs a double sided sheet of 12x12 Christmas paper send me a message. I’m willing to share. My paper is NOT by Tim Holtz but super cute. I also have like 2-3 patterns and you can choose which one you’d like :) I will mail it same or next day via first class usps.

Thank you, @Butterfly1974 -I was going to do that, but haven't many Tim Christmas papers. I've used up more than I realized.

I can certainly provide other double sided papers. If you need a sheet, send a PM with your snail mail address.

Heading for bed!
