I have a question - What if everything on our swap-partner's list are things that would be on my list? - I mean, since joining swap-bot, I've discovered some new things that I'd love to learn, and those are already on the lists given - what if none of these things are "old" to us that we could teach another person?

Good question Mary B. I guess you could view it as an extra challenge. One of the best ways to learn about something is to try and teach it. And this way, you will be learning two new crafts(unless your partner picks the same one.)

I'm relatively new to swapping and crafting, so I figure most of the things on my partner's list will be either vaguely familiar or completely alien to me, so we're in the same boat.

Ok, I have no idea what happened with my list above, but I was so not done. Let me try this again.

3. how to make a purse or tote bag (I have a sewing machine, but I'm scared of it. This might help me with my sewing machine anxiety)
4. porcelain jewelry (don't know if you use major equipment)

6. mosaics (glass, tile, or paper)
7. making coasters or jewelry with glass and copper tape (I can get a soldering iron if I need one)
8. making lip balm
9. how to sew a cute Christmas stocking

Ohhhhh this sounds like so much fun! I can't wait to find my partner out, I am hoping that what they want to learn is something I do too and I will make myself the same package, we can learn together! Or if they want to learn looming I know that well. Ohhhhh and there is the whole I am a florist thing so I could teach that (and actually have) But as for the things I would like to learn 1 Pysanky eggs (thanks for such a cool idea) 2 Paper making 3 I don't know what it is called but I saw one in somebody's profile it was woven magazine pages that they then made into a pocketbook, easily one of the coolest things I have ever seen! 4 Making soap 5 Making lip balm 6 Making knitting needles out of dowels 7 Interesting paper crafts like making a chip bowl or something like that 8 Hand spinning yarn with the small thing you hold 9 Fairy doors 10 Altered books

Joy, I love your description of spinning: "hand spinning yarn with the small thing you hold." The small thing's called a drop spindle, and that's the cutest way I've ever seen it described. ;) Aww, the small thing you hold ... :D

Thanks JeweledClaws, I just was trying to make sure that whoever got me didn't think I wanted a spinning wheel!

It was hard to think of ten things, so I hope I didn't pick anything too obscure or complicated:

• screen printing (read about it online, but have not tried)
• print making (I have some bits of linoleum, but no tools and haven't done anything along these lines before)
• stamp making (read about it online, but have not tried)
• any sort of nifty recycling project using common household finds
• Huck embroidery (I've looked for info, but have never tried it)
• applique (I'm a decent embroiderer, but this escapes me)
• bookmaking (I'm a complete novice)
• jewelery making (I inherited my mother's tools and some beads, but would really like some novice info or projects)
• felting (I know nothing about it, but it sure looks cool)
• altering metal tins/canisters (I collect a lot of them, but other than repainting haven't done anything wild with them)

I also had a hard time thinking of 10 things that weren't too obscure since I like experimenting with different crafts. If you get my name and know how to do something that isn't listed but isn't on my profile, feel free to teach me something different. Thanks!

If any of the above are too difficult I would be happy learning whatever it is that you do well.

I just opened the most incredible package!!! Thank you, Natana! You certainly spoiled me. Now I can learn polymer clay AND needle felting! I can't wait. You are getting a heart for sure.

inamerica - I hope you can decipher it well enough, lol. Just remember: Take it a step at a time, you don't make a quilt in a day (well, some ladies do, lol, but not the first one) Sew 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there, and before you know it you'll be snuggling under it!
