Description:

As a lot of you know me from swaps I am an Occupational Therapist working for a school district. The last 3 years I have been seeing hospital home bound students as the majority of my caseload. These are students too sick to go to school. I am in great need of sensory toys and books that are washable, can be chewed on/mouthed safely, and are durable. I have 24 new students. Most are working on readiness skills (letters, numbers, shapes, colors, putting in, taking out, switch access, animals, foods, body parts....you get the picture.). Because of the nature of their situation sharing toys can only be done if they are able to be sanatized. (Put through my washing machine.). Paper/pencil/crayon tasks are hand over hand at best for the majority of them.

For this swap I am asking participants to make a durable sensory book, sensory toy, sensory mat, glove puppet or weighted vest and mail it to me for one of my students. You will take a picture and email or mail it to your partner for the rating. You will send me an email or address with your item so that I can send you a thank you note with info about how it is helping the student and maybe a picture (no student faces). I know this is a big request, but I know some of you have big hearts and are wonderful crafts persons.

As I am one person, funds and time hold me back from doing all of this myself.

Please mashine wash all fabric before you start creating because all of the students are sensitive to the fabric preservatives.

If you need help with ideas please check out Pinterest or message me. Thanks so much in advance.

The tag rags -- and even sensory books are interesting. What size works best for you?

And for books --- do you want the pages all seen together? Or on some kind of rings so you can mix and match as best suits? (Not sure what kind of rings.) with an assigned page size and hold placement for rings, you could get a flexible collection.

Just watching right now

Lady.....all of your ideas are great. Sturdiness and wash ability are important. Size is more choice.
