Postcard Swap Theme: Museum/ Art Gallery Postcards

Most (if not all) museums & art galleries (even the small ones) have gift shops open to the general public (i.e. you don't even have to pay for a visit to go into the shop). They usually carry postcards pertaining to current exhibits as well as permanent collection pieces; this swap will be for those postcards.

Examples of acceptable postcards:

a) The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts currently has an exhibition on the clothing of Yves St. Laurent... there are some postcards in the shop with sketches & images of some of his pieces.

b) I was at the National Gallery of Canada last year & picked up a couple of postcards displaying the images of paintings by Tom Thomson (Group of Seven).

Each person will have two (2) partners to send one (1) postcard each to (2 cards in total).

NOTE: postcards can be mailed/ stamped or sent in envelopes... if you have a preference when receiving these types of postcards, please leave your preference in the comments below (when you receive your swap partners, please be courteous & check the comments before sending to see if they have a mailing preference). Some people like receiving stamped cards, but, I think, with museum/ art gallery postcards some people might prefer them to be unused.

If you are mailing/ stamping the actual card feel free to explain why you chose that particular card, or to include a quote or whatever you feel is appropriate (for people sending in envelopes, I'm sure a little something written on a separate piece of paper would be appreciated). *For everyone, please make sure to include your Swap-Bot username & the name of the swap.

You must have a 4.75 or higher rating to participate, no recent no sends or 1 ratings (within the past 3 months).

Newbies are welcomed with a fully filled out profile.

One last thing... since these cards require purchase at a fairly specific location, please make sure you can get to one before the swap deadline date. If you sign-up & later think you might have a problem, please drop out before the deadline.

thanks :)

My son has had his art in several Art Museums. Could I have a postcard made up through CafePress with some of the art he had in one of the Art Museums? Just wondering if that would be alright. I like my postcards sent naked too.

Lynnie,

for this swap I'd prefer the card to be from a museum or art gallery.

Wouldn't you know it, my favorite art museum is doing remodeling of the gift shop and so no gift shop to buy postcards in for 2 months. Luckily we have numerous museums and galleries around here.

Well my art museum is waiting (and has been for 2 mos) for the postcards of the artist, I want to send, who is currently on display. I'm gonna keep checking back but really want to WAIT to send THAT artist! They should come in "any day" and hopefully in time. If not I do have other options!!

I would like to apologize as I still have to rate the partner that sent me the postcard: my mom collected the postcard for me as I was out of town when it arrived, but then my mum moved to my aunt apartment to the seaside, with the postcard in her bag and she forget it there, so I don't know where the postcard comes from and from who...my aunt will bring it home next week end, so I will be able to rate!
