National Tell A Story Day is celebrated in the United States each year on April 27th. This is a day that was created for people to get together to tell stories of all kinds. They can be stories from a book, from memory or from your imagination. Libraries around the country participate in National Tell A Story Day with special story telling times for children. Telling stories of past generations is a good way to carry on traditions within one’s family as well as being interesting and educational. Some of the very best stories are ones that are told of about past experiences and adventures. Many people enjoy listening to their grandparents share their stories about when they were growing up (back in the day). Spending time telling stories with family, friends and loved ones is a time for all to learn from each other, to remember and to grow closer together. Create an outfit for your partner's doll that represents a character in one of your favorite stories. It can be an adult or a child's story and can come from a book, a movie, television program, or a family memory. Just have fun with it. You also need to write a short note telling your partner about the character and what story it is from. |
