Description:

This is a continuation and revision of VickiMcG's swap that was done before Christmas. She has graciously allowed me to use her idea. I know there is another poetry postcard swap ongoing, but I like this one because you get to write your own poem!

Select a romance novel this time. Turn to page 15. Write down the 15th word on the page. Now write down every 15th word until you have 15 words to turn into a random poem. Keep the words in the order you found them, or switch them around to a more pleasing form--your choice.

Handmake 2 postcards in any medium (nothing digitalized, please, it must be handmade and hand decorated somehow) to illustrate your poem. The poem can either be written on the back or incorporated into the front artwork.

You will be sending 1 postcard to 2 people. This swap is open to international swappers.

Send your postcards "as is" - not in envelopes.

You will need a rating of at least 4 to participate. I also reserve the right to ban anyone I feel is not reliable. If you have more than one no send, please contact me to discuss. Newbies are welcome!

*Mar.10: If you do not receive your swap, please contact me NO LATER THAN APRIL 20 and we will work something out. Thx.

I loved the last one, although it was a challenge! So I am going to do give it another shot. Fewer partners will make it easier also

I found that 5 PCs was a bit much too. I would like to do this swap with 2 PCs on an ongoing basis, using different kinds of books each time. I am thinking kids' books, history books, sewing books (the ones with lots of narrative in them), magazines like National Geographic and Reader's Digest, the newspaper, etc. These are all available to everyone at the library, or even a bookstore, with no cost involved.

I also thought it might be fun to give everyone the same 15 words to use and see what they can come up with. We could share our poems here afterwards.

Anyone with ideas, your comments would be very welcome!

OHHH that would be fun Tassy! I bt at least one or 2 poems came out the same though

TerryF 02/ 8/2007 #

Probably! I would have to be really careful to use words with many meanings I guess!

TerryF 02/17/2007 #

That\'s what I do too, Susi. Kinda makes me feel a little guilty, so I skulk a lot! lol

Susi 02/18/2007 #

i like that idea... using different types of books or magazines...i was think of the same kind of thing when i was at the thrift store searching for words in romans novels (there's no sense in buying a book for these, I just go to thrift stores and book stores with a notebook in hand... cheaper that way!) susi

Pink 02/24/2007 #

Lol I tried it out... I just kept the words in the order they were in the book. It's not half bad!

Pink 02/24/2007 #

And another thing.. with this kind of swap that you\'re sending out to two people does it matter if the two postcards are pretty similar in design?

TerryF 02/24/2007 #

They can be exactly the same - mine will be.

Susi 02/25/2007 #

when we get our partners? thanks, susi

TerryF 02/26/2007 #

Susi: I have 3 days after the sign-up date to assign partners, so anytime between Feb. 26 and 28. Tassy

Can the postcards be a xerox copy of our originals? I find that they go through the post better than if the originals are sent. Glued stuff tends to fall off or get ripped off during mailing.

TerryF 03/ 7/2007 #

Sorry, it has to be an original, no copies allowed. If you are concerned about embellishments, then go ahead and send in an envelope. Thx.

Oh boy, i just saw the the new date, and I am just going to get my cards out today...is that going to be a problem? susi

Susi 03/15/2007 #

I don't know what is wrong with me...I did not read the description correctly...I am sending my cards out today, so they should be on time, maybe a day late.. depeding to where it;s going. susi, the always confused!

TerryF 03/15/2007 #

Susi, the send by date isn't until March 20 - that's next Tuesday - as long as your PCs are postmarked no later than March 20, you are not late.

TerryF 03/17/2007 #

Susi, Elizabeth4510 & FarStarr, your Pcs are ready to be mailed on Monday, March 19 - please be patient as it can take a while for mail from Canada to get anywhere! Thx. Tassy

TerryF 03/19/2007 #

redleppard 04/10/2007 #
