Description:

I'm liking the idea of all these mass post-card swaps that are happening, but, most just don't fit what I'm specifically looking for -- One swap might be international - which would be too expensive for me, another might be sending twenty to twenty different people... etc etc ... Not exactly what i'm looking for - So - I decided to form my own swap...

Please send 20 un-used picture post-cards to One U. S. Partner.

20, you ask? - Well, reason being, is, that I'm tired of looking at the same post-cards in my stash.

I want to send some out - but - they don't fit the likes of my partner, and for various other reasons, many of these postcards don't move.

They just sit and sit in my little box of postcards.

So - If you're tired of looking at the same stuff in your stash - Please join.

I weighed 20 post cards --- It came to 3.4 oz.

But, depending on the size and thickness of the cards, the weight might vary.

On the USPS site - I calculated a 4 oz large envelope weight, with dimensions over 1/4 inch, to be : $2.74

If you're postage-savvy - Maybe you can calculate a cheaper rate.

One Caveat: No more than 5 hand-made/Zazzle/the like, postcards. --

Mainly, I'm wanting to swap postcards you'd find on revolving racks in department stores, drug-stores, or, touristy shops, and the like.

So!

Send 20 assorted not-written-on postcards to One Partner.

Imagine how exciting your stash could become if you opened this to international. Even if you dropped it to ten postcards for postage reasons and hosted a second one. :)

Oh wow - That'd be a super idea -- Postcards from around the world sounds fabulous - but - according to my calculations, even 10 or so , would be a bit over ten dollars, and, that's a bit rich for my blood. If anyone knows better, about the postage, please let me know! Even so, @Lizard you've really got me seriously considering it ... Thank you.

Here in Australia if I send one postcard naked it costs $2.70. Same if I send it in an envelope. In fact, anything up to 50 grams (1.76 ounce) costs $2.70.

However, if it weighs between 51 and 100 grams (1.79 oz - 3.52 oz) the price rises dramatically! It will cost $7.40. Isn't that ridiculous?!

Envelopes can be up to 2cm (.7 inch) which means I can send a small matchbox. But as soon as it is the slightest bit thicker, it is a package and the price jumps to just over $12.

With all that cost, yet the post office grumbles when I insist on stamps, no labels!

$2.70 for one postcard? ... And here, I am horrified at $1.20 for U. S. p-c overseas rates .. Gadz - One and three - quarters oz for $2.70 is a bit much. In US one to two oz. is seventy-one cents, usually - depending on thickness. Yeah - those price jumps, just for a little thickness, is horrible. Yes - lol - all that, and the postal workers growl when you want real stamps - That must be an international affliction with all postal workers behind the counter.
