Lonely Mailbox Swap- USA only

The idea for this swap came from a thread in the forums. Basically we were all complaining that we weren't getting mail and that our poor mailboxes are empty! Is your mailbox empty too? Well, let's fill them up!

For this swap you will have 5 partners. You will send one package to each.

You may send ATCs, artdolls, bookmarks, jewelry, blank journals, nice pens, or other small trinkets. Handmade or storebought, whichever you choose.

All packages should be between 6x9 and 9x12 inches (standard manila envelope sizes). No tiny envelopes with just a swapcard. Please include at least one item and a nice cheerful greeting card, letter, or note.

This is to be a profile-specific swap. Please try your best to make sure you are sending items your partners will like. If you do not have a wishlist on your profile, please post a short list in the comments here so that your partners can get some ideas.

The general idea behind this is to send nice, fun packages to your partners so that they can have a "Happy Mail Day!"

I won't set a dollar amount on this, but please use good judgement. Please do not send used, dirty, or trashy items.

Due to postage, this is currently USA only. Please PM if you are interested in hosting an international version.

I reserve the right to ban anyone whom I deem questionable. At least 4.7 rating overall and at least 10 positive ratings on snail-mailed swaps for newbies. If you have any concerns about anyone who has signed up for this swap, please contact me.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to angel. I will do my best to arrange angels, but I would hope that no one will flake as we all want Happy Mail Days!

I was asked why one would need such a large envelope if you are only sending ATCs.

I'm trying to make it fair for all involved. I added ATCs in the list for ideas, not absolutes.

Feel free to send ATCs, if your partners collect them. But I guess I would ask that you include something else with them as well to fill out the envelope, unless you are going to send several ATCs.

I would love to join this swap, if it had fewer partners. I could handle having 1 or 2 partners; but not 5.

I think a swap like this is intended to produce many packages coming your way. None of them have to be very expensive or time consuming, just something nice that will brighten your partners day. Stationary, stickers, cute dollar store finds, candles, little plushies, almost anything would work. Most of the time the packages are lightweight, so the cost is still pretty low. I've done a few before, and it was awesome to get so many packages in the mail. Everyday it was something new and fun! I'm in several swaps at the moment, but I'll probably end up joining this one! ^^

SilverWing is exactly correct- many small inexpensive packages to brighten someone's day. I set the size limit to be fair. It shouldn't be more than a couple of dollars per package, unless you really load them down.

Hi, I just want to take a quick moment to thank all of you for signing up! We still have a couple of days to get a few more participants.

I will be double-checking the list and assigning partners on Tuesday 09/02/08.

Please remember that newbies must have at least 10 ratings to join. There are a couple signed up right now that do not meet these requirements. I will allow them to remain on the list in hopes that they can get the ratings before Tuesday. If not, they will be dropped.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to drop me a message. I am interested in hearing if any of you would like to make this a recurring swap, say once every two or three months.

I'm excited about this swap!

and...psst...to my partner, if you read this, you're welcome to send me regifted, garage sale, or thrift store stuff too. Like anyone else, I don't like junk but I know treasures can be found in used places and I appreciate them as well as the new!

I don't mind garage sale items either...or a few skeins of embroidery floss, or a cheap tube of seed beads...anything hand made....not too hard to please here!

this would be a awesome swap, but it has too many partners for me to afford ,,, bummer

Just a quick reminder- today is the last day to send your packages for the Lonely Mailbox Swap. Please send a note to your partners if your packages will be late.

Anyone who does not receive thier packages by October 15 will need to contact me so that I can persue any further angels that might be needed.

Thanks!
