Description:

My true sewing passion is embroidery! :-) I hope many of you will enjoy playing along. If there are enough participants, I will make this a monthly swap series so we can collect Monday-Sunday.

This month, we will all embroider a MONDAY towel. We will:

  • Have 1 partner.

  • Hand embroider on a flour sack style dish towel. Here are some examples of the type of dish towel to use:

Flour Sack Towels on Amazon
Flour Sack Towels from Aunt Martha's
Flour Sack Towels on Dharma Trading Company
These towels are also usually available at Hobby Lobby, Joann's, Michael's, and similar craft stores.

Here are many examples of embroidered Days of the Week towels.

  • Choose any commercial "Days of the Week" embroidery pattern. The pattern selected is sender's choice.

  • Please imprint the MONDAY pattern on your towel and fully embroider it. The embroidery must be done by hand, not by machine.

  • If you prefer to hand transfer the pattern from an online source rather than buy a transfer pattern, here are some good directions for different methods. I have not had good luck with the sneaky printer trick, though! Don't forget to reverse your text as needed. :-)

  • Wash your towel after you embroider it! There should not be hoop marks left on the towel when you mail it. You may wish to run a quick iron over it; though these towels hold on to some wrinkles, it shouldn't be excessively wrinkled. Please make an effort to ensure that your towel arrives in ready-to-use condition.

  • Do your best work! However, this swap is open to embroidery beginners. Please be prepared to receive an embroidered towel with full effort but perhaps developing skill. :-)

  • Send on time. Rate promptly. Please contact the recipient and the swap host in the rare circumstance that you must be late.

  • Be sure to enclose a note of a couple of sentences to personalize the swap and give important details (swap name, user name, etc.).

  • This swap is open to all Let's Try This members in good standing with no unresolved 1s or 3s (please PM the host if there's an extenuating circumstance) and a minimum of 10 rated Type 3 swaps.

Thanks for hosting this swap! I'm eager to get started...

...a little word of warning to my partner, though--the back of my embroidery is not super neat...I'm working on it, though!

Would love to do this one as a machine embroidery swap!

I only work by hand, so I can't host a machine version. Perhaps mention the idea in the group forum and see if there are others interested in a machine embroidery swap? Good luck!

Maybe for next month, it could be machine or hand embroidery? If the machine embroidery swappers don't mind hand work, and vice versa...

Sorry, but I'm going to stick to the handmade swaps. I prefer to receive hand embroidery if I'm sending hand embroidery. It takes me nearly a week to embroider one by hand. :-) Please feel free to host a machine embroidery swap for those who prefer that method.

Send by date changed to reflect an extension from June 20 to June 29. :-)
